Areas for improvement
- Trust in colleagues
- Sense of belonging
- Support from manager
Overall, the dispatchers are quite good.
Truck Driver Class A (Former Employee) - OTR and Walmart regional - January 28, 2023
I never had any problems with dispatch. They have great equipment and any breakdowns are handled very quickly at anytime day or night. The problem is the pay isn’t very good. .33 cents a mile doesn’t cut it when you’re away from your family for weeks at a time.

It’s ok
Driver (Current Employee) - Baytown, TX - January 28, 2023
It’s ok so days are easy for the most part. Pay could be better I think like 250$ a day would be be a little better. And going back to the extra pay for working an xtra day would help. Dealing with the stores and how they are designed and if it was actually drop and hook too would help also. And if you do more than 2 loads in a day should be better compensated. It’s the easiest job I have had tbh.

Truck Driver Class A (Current Employee) - Chattanooga, TN - January 26, 2023
Owner operators get the short end of the stick they will take loads from owner operators and give it to company drivers the owner operators have truck payments that are still taken out even if you don't have a load to run Owner operators take pay cuts And 0 increase

They suck
Truck Driver Class A (Former Employee) - Shelbyville, IN - January 21, 2023
Job started fine, then to many changes happened that didn’t benefit drivers, staff is rude and act like you’re not human, and they act like they care at first for your safety but really don’t when u get in the door.
Pros
Only thing was good was the sign on bonus
Cons
They only care about the load

Good
Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Dallas, TX - January 19, 2023
Overall US Xpress was a good place to work. I worked how I wanted to work as long as I made my appointments. When I switched over to the variant side things went down hill.

No a good place there is always something
Driver (Former Employee) - North Carolina - January 18, 2023
They never pay what the recruiter say once you finish orientation the pay is different also the home time is basically no home time. I quit because my position was supposed to be local but once I get in the truck they told me that my account is regional.

Impossible expectations, lowest pay possible
Fleet Manager (Former Employee) - Tunnel Hill, GA - January 17, 2023
I got a raise the day the federal government raised the minimum salary for someone to be exempt from overtime. Working for USX was the most stressful time of my entire life and I hated every second of it.

amazing family
Driver Experience Specialist (Former Employee) - Dallas, TX - January 16, 2023
I had the best time of my life here as a DES. There were things that could have changed to better the experience overall for the drivers but trial and error. I appreciated the time and opportunity spent here. The ending as abrupt and sudden but I wouldn't change my experience for the world. I met great people who I am still friends with today and I have continued my career in logistics thanks to US XPRESS for my experience along with the knowledge given
Pros
great pay great benefits
Cons
no life and work balance, promotions are not give on merit

Manager (Former Employee) - Chattanooga, TN - January 5, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? CoWorkers and colleagues. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Never-ending changing initiatives and cyclical layoffs. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Company bottom line outweighs all other reined considerations. Women in leadership positions are limited and those that survive any number of years are not taken seriously and have limited career development prospects, particularly in some departments. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Fairly normal work day for most.

Great people and great equipment. As long as you’re ready to work they got work, they also get you home as best as they can. They have great terminals & drop yards across the US

Micro-management
Company Driver (Former Employee) - Dallas, TX - December 29, 2022
Good pay, but dispatchers want you to drive no matter the condition and blow your phone up. They say safety first but want you to drive fatigued. Wouldn’t work there again

LISTEN to your employees!
Maintenance (Former Employee) - Chattanooga, TN - December 16, 2022
A lot of distractions are offered, but very little real job support. Changes are made in a very reactionary way, with no thought to the source of the problems. Management is not receptive to ideas and will disrespect employees openly in weekly staff meetings. Harassing behavior is tolerated, but they believe that the workforce is happy because you can shoot nerf guns and do a crossword puzzle to enter a monthly gift card drawing.
Pros
competitive pay, excellent workforce
