Reviews about Pay & Benefits for Social Worker in US Department of Veterans Affairs
Would Not Recommend Overall
Social Worker (Current Employee) - El Paso, TX - May 13, 2023
The benefits and pay are great but that's about it. This VA only cares about Nurses and all of the other disciplines get forgotten. As a Social Worker , there is a lack of support and you're forced to "figure it out". I am thankful for the opportunity to work here but the politics and nepotism can make it difficult . It's hard not to become resentful when your profession is forgotten about.

Safe job low fulfillment
Social Worker (Former Employee) - Atlanta, GA - December 12, 2022
Good work environment, but there are surprises that just change your day to day. Management keeps leaving and then you get tasked with their responsibilities
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Too much retirement income deducted from your check

Great benefits
Social Worker (Former Employee) - Maryland - August 10, 2022
Great benefits and bonuses. Work schedule flexibility. Supportive team and staff. Can be challenging at times, but rewarding. Great trainings and learning experiences.
