I love my career and it feels like family. There are so many directions to choose from in my field, HR, logistics, procurement and advising are just a few things I love.

Great Place to work.

Highly recommend. Pay is good, work conditions are good, benefits are excellent, flextime is excellent. If you can get a job at USEPA, you should jump at it. They encourage you to learn and move around so you there is lots of opportunity if you want it.

Good look into what public service work looks like

My manager and coworkers were very supportive and helpful with my work and helping me understand what a full-time job at the EPA might look like, but it is clear that many people there have been there for a long time. There are not many young people, which gives you an idea of how the environment is there.

Pros

Supportive network

Poor place to work now

EPA Office of Pesticides Program in the Environmental Fate & Effects Division has lost its zest and zing for reporting purse science that is defendable and reliable.

Horrible Place to Work

It is said that workers leave a job because of a bad manager... not usually because of the job itself. This is especially true at the EPA. They promote people who have no business being supervisors at a hot dog stand. They can’t lead their way out of a paper bag, let alone take care of employee’s needs. They provide no real training to new employees, they continuously change priorities and leave staff completely overwhelmed and frustrated. Add to this, that all agencies are hostage to any administration and can be shut down whenever they want to fight over nothing... and you have a horrible work environment of continuous stress.

Pros

Flexible Schedules

Cons

Everything Else

Best Job Ever!

I worked for USEPA for two consecutive summers. I learned the basics of office procedures and protocols. Who would've thought as a teenager I would have the opportunity to work for the Federal Government.

Public Sector work

This can be busy but certain regulations make it hard to advance. I have seen that doing a good job is not enough. People here need to realize we are people too.

Work Environment is a fast paced program focused organization. Not for the meek of heart!art!

Having spent years at EPA, working compliance assistance and climate change program setup. The one thing for sure is rules are made slowly and for specific reason with actions moving forward based on court decisions, congress and the executive branch. EPA is an experience of lifetime and working with state and local governments and alongside of alongside private industry is definitely not something any person with little knowledge, skills and ability can do, it takes individuals who can tackle the problems and solve them through negotiations, under standing rules, searching for solutions in the rules and doing the math so to speak on what makes sense and not make sense. So if you get the chance, think about working at EPA, but remember, you are just one of many people who may not think alike and do have their own career agenda's at time.

Pros

Chance to work on specific tasks and make them happen in climate change programs

Cons

lunchtime is just one half hour, time clock punchers as managers, working after hours for time punchers as managers who foget you are in the field that day
