Paralegal (Current Employee) –  Indianapolis, INFebruary 19, 2015
USA Track & Field is an excellent place to work. I work well under-pressure, and USATF is definitely dead-line driven, extremely busy cooperation.
Pros
friendly, positive environment

Poorly managed. Overworked and underpaid.
Merchandise and Operations Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Indianapolis, INOctober 7, 2014
The hardest part of the job was spending the majority of work hours on the road. In my year with USATF I traveled to 29 states. The job involves a good amount of physical labor: lifting boxes, signs, and merchandising equipment in addition to long drives. The vehicles were rife with mechanical issues and basic car knowledge was necessary on the road at times. If you're a fan of the sport, it was a perk to feel like you were contributing to the growth of it in the US. Occasionally interacting with professional athletes was also a pretty cool perk.

USATF has several problems including a poisonous office culture and detached leadership. Despite being part of a department that brought in over $1mil in sales upper management never spoke one word to our department during my year in Indianapolis. This is particularly concerning considering our office only housed about 40 employees and upper management's offices were perhaps 60ft from our desks.
Pros
Solid benefits, great resume builder for a young person
Cons
Low salary, poor leadership, poor communication, office culture

Running as an athlete at the University of South Alabama was a life changing experience, teaching me a lot about myself.
Athlete (Former Employee) –  Mobile, ALDecember 12, 2012
A typical day at South Alabama on the Track team was filled with hours of training, required meetings and constant communication between coach and athlete. This was a relationship-building experience as well as a life growing experience. I learned on a daily basis the importance of managing time and energy and how each factor of life impacted my performance and willingness to strive forward to succeed. I had a great over-all experience with the program , coaches, and the team with many life-time relationships started. the toughest part of being an athlete at a NCAA Division 1 program was the intensity of the training, running over one hundred miles in one week with multiple high intensity workouts through out the week as well. The most enjoyable part of being an Athlete was doing what I love to do. Running has always been a passion of mine, and to be able to compete under such a great program was a dream come true.
Pros
travel, gear, food, scholarship
Cons
rigorous training, high-risk of injury

I truly enjoyed working as a elite athlete with USATF. I was given the opportunity to travel, compete with the best in the world and negotiated appearances and sponsorships on my behalf.
