Mental Health Counselor in Davis, CA

Flexibility, sense of community, wonderful students, and supportive leadership. It’s a great place to work. The benefit are wonderful too, my only wish is that they paid more.
Tour Guide in Davis, CA

Being a tour guide is a great job to have as a student. The requirements are light enough to be able to balance school and work and you get good flexibility with your schedule. Plus the people are amazing
Intern in Davis, CA

Went to school and worked as an intern at UC Davis and found it to be an incredible environment with many opportunities for different kinds of internships at different sectors of Science and Research.
Graduate Research Assistant in Davis, CA
on January 17, 2023
My grad school experience was bad only because my advisor was bad and my grad group was unsupportive, so choose those things wisely! UC Davis does have really great research, but most PIs are mediocre mentors.
Student Research Assistant in Davis
on January 15, 2023
I enjoyed working at Davis (as a student worker). Worked through a lab inside the Plant Sciences department. Had a nice time out in the field and greenhouses and was taught new skills that have helped me get a better job after of graduation. However, they list these research assistant jobs in the same category as office assistants etc. You get paid less than a lot of other student assistants (like food service) even though it was really intense and sometimes back-breaking work. I think this was probably because my lab chose to hire in lower levels and never promoted their students. I worked there for 4 years, got paid minimum wage every year. So overall: pros were the work environment and learning aspects. Cons were pay and I kind of felt like I was taken advantage of because they knew I wouldn't leave as I liked the work.
