Great Nurses, Poor Compensation, Completely Out-of-Touch Upper Management
I've worked at University of Colorado Hospital as a nurse since 2011. Turnover is very high throughout the hospital due to non-competitive pay - VP of HR says that they are trying to avoid a wage war with other local hospitals so they try to keep us in the 50th %ile of pay for RNs in Denver - stated in a company town hall meeting.
Upper Management - more... (above Director) just figures they will replace experienced nurses with inexperienced ones because they are cheaper and don't expect a difference in quality of care toward patients. We have had dangerously low staffing conditions for weeks at a tim ... - less
ProsConsistent annual bonus ($500-$1000/year), high-quality nursing
ConsPay is low to average, leadership only cares about patients to the extent that it impacts profit
