Good place to work

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Its a good place to work. I find it to be an excellent place for the providers. There is good culture amongst the providers and the patients are happy to be there.

Supportive coworkers

MS/tele with ratios 1:4-1:6. It wasn't bad, but not getting a report from ER was not ideal. Insulin drips on the floor was new for me but you get used to it. Would work their again however.

Horrible place to work

What is the best part of working at the company? The best part of working there was the cafeteria and ease and proximity of scheduling doctor appointments What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The office politics and “queen bees” in the administrative offices did not treat others with respect or kindness. There was a lot of pulling rank & not treating people as individuals. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Very clicky and like a dictatorshipWhat is a typical day like for you at the company?Whatever the powers that be decide it will be

Great learning experience but horrible turn over and poor management.

Interesting work . There are lots of opportunities to learn. Several interesting case studies you may never see in a smaller hospital. However, the management is poor and the turn over is ridiculously high (including management turnover). Always short staffed. Several mandated shifts per week. Off shifts are usually the worst staffed, and the volume does not slow down. 1st shift is normally better staffed and can be nice to work. Each person's experience within the lab depends greatly upon shift and bench assignments, so views can vary drastically. The few staff that have been there more than a few years are extremely knowledgeable and are usually helpful. It could be a great place to work if they retained staff more often and had new management that stayed long enough to fix the issues. Tips. Make sure you are comfortable and get appropriate training before being signed off on any bench. Be aware that they do frequently mandate employees (as in every week if not daily). If you are going to work 2nd or 3rd shift be aware that it is rarely slow and you will be expected to work more than 1 bench most of the time and you may have additional tasks to perform such as micro and tox testing, assist with processing or perform maintenance. It is a fast paced environment that requires you to be able to multitask well. It definitely is an experience and can provide a new graduate with a vast amount of experience in a short amount of time.

Coworkers

There’s a lot of support you receive from the staff, growth opportunity, and multiple resources to help you perform well with the given job description.

Stressful

Worked in the emergency room so it was stressful when patients would be discharged all at the same time and I didn't have help. Third shift seemed to have a very toxic environment when it came to coworkers. Pay and benefits were good.

Has a pension but it might not be worth it

Don’t work in the sleep lab unless it’s to get certified as a tech, then bail. The sleep lab is the black sheep of the hospital. Most people don’t know we’re even there. The managers don’t care about the patients or you. They say they do but actions speak louder than words. Work in a different department and you’ll probably be much happier.

Pros

Working nights pays more

Cons

No lunch, management is biased and has no standards

PRO: A lot of amazing people and research CON: RED TAPE & HORRIBLE MGT

I loved helping the patients and my work as a clinician but there was so much nonsense! It wasn't a good environment for me! TIP: Get anything mgt says in writing! Even then, be careful!

Actually get lunch breaks!!

First hospital I have worked at where you actually get a full 30 min lunch off the floor and someone is designated to take your patients, and not in addition to theirs. Leadership is not really present, which is frrustrating, but the staff works wonderfully as a team.

Great

Great work life balance, good pay. Good benefits. Tuition reimbursement is awesome. Smaller clinic so better team. I’m only filling this out so I can see other reviews

Management is horrible

You have no life they mandate you to work if someone calls off and if you already worked your whole shift and someone from the next shift calls off you have to stay over and work majority of that shift as well it’s not fair and management doesn’t come in and help at all they get to enjoy their weekends

Stressful and cliquey

My first job as an RN, and feeling very unwelcome and unwanted. Pay is decent, work load is overwhelming. Don't look for praise unless you get in with other cliques there

Fine

I had relative freedom on the job, but there is a general atmosphere of burn out. It is easy to make good relationships among staff when effort is put in.

Fun staff, easy first hospital experience

I miss my time at UCHealth as a volunteer! The training staff and front desk staff were always so nice to me. I was only 17 at the time, but it was a cheerful, educational place to be.

One of the worst hospital I have ever worked at.

What is the best part of working at the company?End of the work day and pay check What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Co-worker's lack of knowledge, but management supported them. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Tense environment, co works are back stabbers. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Looking over my shoulder for the back stabbing to begin. Keeping quiet as the inexperienced co-workers talked and proceeded with the primary task on their terms, not following protocol. Management backed up this behavior without blinking an eye.

Good Place to work overall

It's a beautiful facility and the teamwork at this hospital is pretty good, at least on the unit I worked. It would have been better if staffing ratios were better, but I've yet to work at a hospital that I felt had consistent, fair staffing ratios. All in all a good place to work though. Good benefits!
