Make sure you write a short but effective cover letter no more than two paragraphs. The first paragraph should be about your interest in the company and your background the second paragraph should be about your skills that adhere to the current role you're applying for. Short simple straight to the point hi my name is blank this is why I want to work for you and this is why I know I can handle position.

Make sure you prepare for a phone interview in advance it could happen at any random time. Essentially the phone interview is to make sure you have the skills necessary to perform the role so make sure you stay very specific and answer the questions as clearly and precisely as possible.
