You would have had to come from a really bad environment to think this is a good place to work.

Nice place to work except management.. Former operator
Plant operator (Former Employee) –  Rittman ohioJanuary 21, 2018
Place is alright except for new management.. 2 of the 3 foremans were hired in as foremans so dont believe the hype that the site supervisor and plant manager say.. There is no promote within. The plant manager likes to cuss and threaten people to" take them outside" the site manager needs to set up a grievance procedure to deal with people like him. As it stands he doesnt talk to employees about management so they are out of control.. Plant manager has buddies that do what ever or lack of.. He also makes rules that he and a select few do not have to follow. Lazy management makes for a not so good place to work.. Raises used to be good till new plant manger, not anymore he hands out 2% raise and health ins goes up 5%.. I worked at unilock for 8 years only one person ritired.. Unilock loves to fire people its the unilock way.. Favoritism is ridiculous..
Pros
Lots of o\t if you like to live to work and not work to live.. Safety
Cons
Managment. Favortism . long hours

Tumble Operator (Former Employee) –  Rittman, OHOctober 3, 2017
My time there was an experience. I worked 12 hour days 6 days a week. that is the Norm there. You basically stand next to a giant cement drum full of stone and sort through them on a table. it is so loud there even with ear plugs you have to yell to communicate. you WILL break fingers. the hardest part of the job was not quitting when you can look up and see half of the company on the other side sitting in an air conditioned control room starring at computer screens all day and your supervisors doing the same. there is no room for advancement as there are only 5 positions in the whole company. Management plays favorites. I learned what a job shouldn't be by working here. and the most enjoyable part was quitting.

nothing

Associate Territory Manager (Former Employee) –  Aurora, ILOctober 19, 2016
Providing on-site customer service to perspective customers in a showroom atmosphere educating customers on the Unilock product.

Hardscape ability to make any patio, driveway or retaining wall look beautiful.

Management was hands on and very intuitive as well as instructional.

Co-Workers helped me tremndously as it was an industry I did not have experience in.

My commute was well over an hour each way and was demoralizing.

Working closely with members of my family who purchased there brick through Unilock.

Also,

The making of the brick and design to each specific product.

Frustrating but Rewarding - Territory Manager
Territory Sales Manager (Former Employee) –  Brewster, NYDecember 3, 2015
Although I am not a big fan of sales, this sales job was pretty great. The autonomy to run your territory how you see fit, the ability to develop your own sales solutions, freedom to run your own business unit. The best part of the job is the people; everyone is relatively laid back and likes to have a good time after working their butts off. I haven't worked at a company where I've seen the Owner/CEO, President, COO, and CFO so often; they are all locked into the success of each location and each salesman individually. Big focus on hiring from within as well - only downside is that the organization has a relatively shallow hierarchy and there isn't much opportunity for quick advancement. If you work your butt off, they notice and they peg you early on for success, just depends on how long you can be on the sales side before you get burnt out.

Love the company, love the people, very difficult decision to leave.
Pros
rewarding, culture, people, ownership/leadership, autonomy, make your own schedule
Cons
grueling work schedule if you want to be successful, can get burnt out quickly, high end products in a saturated marketplace

Great Company that Takes Care of Their Employees
Training & Marketing Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Aurora, ILOctober 5, 2015
Fun work environment where every day is different. Must have strong customer service skills. I enjoy everyone I work with and laugh a lot during the day. Some days you work longer hours than others, but summers are a busy time for this industry. Winters are much slower and you get to leave early during the winter months.
Pros
many lunches provided for
Cons
work 1 saturday a month

Territory Manager (Current Employee) –  Brewster, NYAugust 24, 2014
NA.....No comment. Not much room for career growth. Commission structure is confusing and an advantage for the company rather then the sales rep. Most important thing for a sales person is knowing how much money your bonus checks are....near impossible here.
