Good work, challenging management
Director of Marketing and Communications, Youth (Former Employee) –  North Potomac, MDJune 25, 2019
The work on the ground is fantastic. The complications it takes to get there is questionable. There are a lot of legacy employees and a lot of old systems, but there is some new innovation.

Interesting work with excellent benefits, flexibility and highly-engaged staff
Assistant Director of Human Resources (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMay 4, 2019
The URJ provides opportunities to work collaboratively across the organization on work groups, committees, taskforces to advance the organization mission and goals in a way that brings a diversity of perspectives. Colleagues are committed to excellence and I have had the ability to continually learn for each person with whom I interact. There’s a culture of commitment to one another and to the shared goals.
Pros
Excellent benefits, flexibility, thoughtful colleagues, ability to take risks and fail forward, opportunities to improve processes, systems and programs
Cons
Decision making can be slow, lack of consistent feedback, conflict-avoidant culture

Basketball Coach and General Counselor (Current Employee) –  West Stockbridge, MAFebruary 28, 2019
Crane Lake Camp run by the URJ is a place of family, learning, growing, and kids. The focus is on becoming those kids role models, parents, siblings, even friends if they need our time and advice.

Program Coordinator (Former Employee) –  New York, NYFebruary 1, 2018
There were many ups and downs working at the Union for Reform Judaism, sometimes it was terribly slow-paced and other times it was more exciting and fulfilling.

Full Charge Bookkeeper/Office Manager (Current Employee) –  Warwick, NYJanuary 16, 2018
The most enjoyable part of my job is working with the youth. Empowering the youth. Teaching them their culture. Talking to parents every day. Meeting people from all over the world.. My co workers. The sense of family.
Pros
They let me bring my dog
Cons
Not paid what I am worth

Great
Facilities Director & Operations Manager (Current Employee) –  Santa Rosa, CADecember 26, 2017
Great URJ is a great place to work but has challenges since corporate structure is coming out of NY. Having a main hub on the west coats makes it hard for NY to understand real world challenges and real world expenses due to poor, misleading and inaccurate communication from the west coats HUB.

Good summer job for one or two summers. Management is very nice and professional. Staff may not be. Highly recommend logistics position; good pay, decent hours, great coworkers.

Religious Nonprofit, motivated by mission
Executive Assistant to the President (Current Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 4, 2016
Overall, most are motivated by the mission of the organization yet the organization lacks investment in employees. The organization provides many benefits in the flexibility of working and many vacation days yet lacks competitive compensation and work-life balance. Many work evenings and on weekends.

Productive and fun experience
Intern (Former Employee) –  New York, NYApril 28, 2015
A typical day was about 5 hours long. During this time I would go through all the archives, organize them, and create an excel sheet of where specific sections were filed and how they were organized. The management was great, they were all extremely welcoming, willing to answer questions, and always had smiled on their faces. There wasn't really any part of the internship I found to be extremely hard. I really did enjoy this experience and love the atmosphere of an office building.
