Signal Maintainer in United States

Don’t let the pay fool you, it’s very enticing to think only about the money. But UP will treat you only as an employee ID number, they do not care if you have a family that you want to see or do things with. If you work in my craft you are expected to remain on call 24/7, and when you are not on call they will threaten your job.

What is the best part of working at the company?Nothing, tyrannical at best leadership What is the most stressful part about working at the company? They hire vets Immediately When they don’t know what they’re getting intoWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company? The employee is always the problem What is a typical day like for you at the company? After you travel to wherever They need you to work where ever, whether it be Del Rio Texas, Bakersfield California, or Wisconsin they expect you to just fix everything and sometimes that’s just not the case. They do not hold operators accountable for taking care of equipment. They will run it until failure every time

A lot of rules and regulations as there should be. A big disconnect between union train operations personnel and non union management. They always look to write you up. Most times I had good working relationships with my crews.
