UPRR is a 24/7, 365 day a year operation. We never close. Many jobs are "on call" which means no set schedule. Hours on duty may be federally regulated and time off is difficult to forecast. This explains the high pay.
Condensed working halves, 80-96+ hrs per working half which is 8 days straight, 6-8 days home, twice a month. Essentially work half the year, this is for a System position which travels throughout the Midwest.

Hours are good if you are in a protected class. Outside of Omaha, you may be required to work 60 pt 70 hours per week, but on a down low basis where you should not tell anyone how much you work
