No Vacation for one year, no sick leave, work 8.5 hours, paid for 8
Application Developer (Former Employee) –  Redstone Arsenal, ALJuly 4, 2018
Did not know when I was hired that vacation does not start for one year for government contract workers. Paid Time Off is accrued, but need management's approval to take it. Management approval beyond my supervisor is needed for emergency Unpaid Time Off for family emergencies. It makes my situation stressful because of family health issues. Can not work from home and have to make up any lost hours the same day.
Pros
Pay is higher than normal
Cons
No Vacation for one year, no sick leave, work 8.5 hours, paid for 8. Need management approval for unpaid leave

Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) –  McLean, VAApril 1, 2013
Each day of the week is a different job duty which is easy with various different projects throughout the day. Learned more about Excel spreadsheets and documents. The management is nice, but being told two different things on a number of occasions. The hardest part of the job is prioritizing certain projects and the enjoyable part is being recognized for my hard work.
