This place sucks !
DSP (Direct Support Professional) (Former Employee) –  Smithtown, NYApril 21, 2019
This place is trash ! Nobody should want to work here for only $12.00 . I hope this company gets reported ! They are very unprofessional; nasty attitudes nobody wants to help you there . It’s a mess for someone to be paid only $12.00/hr to be a dsp

DSP (Direct Support Professional) (Former Employee) –  NYFebruary 9, 2019
Work you like a dog with little pay. No bonuses, no raises. You would have to fight for what they said you were supposed to get. All I can say is stay far away from this place. Some of the higher up would belittle you .
Pros
1199 health ind

Poor company that treats direct support professionals like dogs.
Direct Support Professional (Former Employee) –  Suffolk County, NYJanuary 16, 2019
The company was good a few years ago but now it’s a terrible place to work for. They don’t appreciate direct support professionals at all. Staffing is an issue due to low pay and no raises at all. They make you work one weekend day which is ridiculous. The program supervisor I haven’t seen in months due to poor advocating of clients household. Very high turn over rate. They hire bottom of the barrel people. The CEO of the company is a very distant man with no interaction with employees or clients. The only good thing is working with the clients and building a relationship with them as time goes by. Also they have 1199 union benefits, but don’t offer reimbursement for school, poor 403k retirement plan. I would not recommend working for them long term and living in Long Island people need more income to live comfortably. Which UCP of Long Island does not care about.
Pros
1199 benefits, always overtime, interacting with clients daily.
Cons
Very low pay, high turn over rate with staff, management, no incentive, no raises, no discounts or perks, treats worker terribly.

No Staff Appreciation, And The Salary Is Awful
Program Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Hauppauge, NYJanuary 15, 2019
This agency will work you to death, and pay you next to nothing. The expectation is that you do your job, and the VACANT jobs (that stay vacant because they refuse to up the salary), and pretty much be grateful that you have a job. Most of the managers are worthless, and the staff know WAY more than the higher ups do. There is absolutely NO room for growth, and the only good thing about this agency, are the clients/program participants that come everyday.
Pros
Working with the population
Cons
Salary is awful

Human Resources Generalist (Current Employee) –  Hauppauge, NYJanuary 24, 2017
I was able to raise a family while working due the work/life family culture. Although, I increased my knowledge of the essential skills necessary for success there was little chance for formal advancement.

Great place to work. Working with the individuals is very rewarding. Helping someone to obtain independence over a coarse of time is a great life experience. My day consist of getting the individuals up for program, help them with bathing, tooth brushing, and breakfast. I take care of a child that stays home whom has a trach. G tube and cathedar. If one of the other individuals have a medical appointment, I am responsible for taking them.
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
low pay
