Horrible management

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The pay and benefits are great, the work is physical and a lot of forced overtime hours. If you want to make alot of money, this is the place to do it. If you want time off and family time, this is not for you.

Pros

Pay and benefits

Cons

Long hours

Fair pay

You get paid a fair wage for what you have to deal with. If you exceed the order picking goal, they pay you more, but here’s the problem...everybody needs to meet or exceed expected order pulling rate so as a result, you have double pallet jacks that weigh as much as cars zipping around and trying to meet or exceed rate. These things come within inches of you. On top of that, you WILL work until the orders are finished and that can mean 14 hour days. So you have fatigued drivers of heavy motorized pallet jacks trying to meet and exceed rate for more pay.

Pros

Fair pay

Cons

No set hours, expensive benefits, worthless Union.

Physical and boring job with uncaring management.

Would not be so bad if management cared a little more. Constantly complained about staff shortages but would fire their best employees for little reason. Sucking up is a must as managers play favorites. Hard physical work that gets boring quick. Some fellow employees slack off requiring you to do more than your share of work and management does not care about enforcing standards. Attendance policy is very weird and you must work Sundays. If you can deal with that the pay and benefits package is pretty good for a warehouse. Would not recommend as a career but okay for a few months while you look for something better.

Pros

Decent pay and benefits for a warehouse.

Cons

Bad management that cares little and plays favorites.

Great people but mundane tasks

It’s a great place and they take care of you. It can be tough if your out spoken but if you do what’s asked they got you. The pay is good I was making 60k by the time I was done. The hours are unpredictable not that there’s none there is more than anyone wants .

Pros

Good pay benefits and culture

Cons

Understaffed, long hours

Excellent pay and benefits but....

I will start out by saying the pay and benefits UNFI has to offer can not be beat. That being said there isn't much else thats great about this company. There isn't a good work/life balance here. You must sacrifice your life to this place and you get nothing in return, not one thank you. When you first start out as a driver, you will be working nights, weekends, holidays, and no concrete start time. You can qualify for a yard bid after 60 days but that schedule usually comes with a 6 day work week. You dont qualify for any other bid until you are above the bottom 11%. All their tractors are equipped with that fancy technology that experienced drivers hate. Automated tractors with auto braking, lane assist, cameras, speed gauge and a bunch bells and whistles to annoy you while your trying to stay focused on the road. For a job that requires 250,000miles of windshield time, I am suprised they thought these were the best option. If you want the best pay/benefits in the business this is the place for you. You will work when others dont want to and go home early when they do. If you want money come to UNFI, if you want a life STAY AWAY!!!

Extremely physically demanding

I've been working here for about 9 months and i have to say its very hard on the body and stressful with the amount of mandatory overtime we have to work on a daily basis . The pay is good but this job is definitely not for everyone ( i would say it isn't for most). I do think that sticking with jobs like this is a great way to learn self discipline and gain optimism when it comes to other work related tasks. Would i recommend the average joe to work here? Absolutely not.. but if your willing to push yourself and your somewhat physically active / need a good paying job. Then this is for you

Pros

Pay, Benefits, Incentive pay, generous raises

Cons

Long hours, Physically demanding, Depressing environment

Good start to a career but no advancement opportunities

UNFI is a good foot In the door. Respectable company with benefits. However, they do not promote from within. If you try to move departments they would rather hire someone from outside company who has experience. Don’t expect any recognition for a job well done, pay is low and the performance raises are less than .20. They start low at $16 and the rep 2’s only make a couple bucks more. You will see people get promoted while you work your tail off for nothing.

Pros

Benefits, nice team members

Cons

LOW pay, do not promote from within

Long hours but good pay

Work is stressful and hours are long. Not many skills learned for a career but good pay. You work on your own so you don't have to worry about other coworkers.

Good place to work if you want to make some money.

Lots of overtime, the pay is pretty good though. Benefits are not bad, pretty standard health, dental, vision, life insurance. Decent 401k match. Make sure you are in decent shape before you get the job. That will make it a lot easier to get your numbers.

Pros

Pay, overtime

Cons

Overtime, health and retirement could be improved.

Pay good...now as for the schedule for drivers takes some getting used to

Decent company...starting rate pretty fair! If you are a truck driver starting out you have to take the routes no one wants and you have to bid on a better route in which your the new guy so all the good routes are already taken!

Pros

Weekly pay

Cons

Schedule kinda leaves you no life

You dont leave until all the orders are picked up.

This means you've worked 13 hours already that day and you go back to check for orders likr a good employee and a blue vest hands you a order everybody knows takes 2hrs to pick... you get a fist bump for being a "team player". This whole scenario plays out night after night. There needs to be a way to have a set time off everynight then that would make this place more tolerable. After you work hard , a person needs rest and maybe sometime to enjoy the money they're earning...?

Pros

Easy to get hired. Good starting pay

Cons

Mostly everything else.

More hours

This place wouldn’t be that bad if only they gave you a 5th day, and be able to get a raise every year and not be topped out. And management need to have better communication with drivers

Pros

4 days

Cons

Long days medical is terrible

Good people to work with but their rates are too high for anyone to hit.

The job was great and the supervisors were too but corporate is so out of touch that it makes it hard for everyone to do their jobs when they set requirements, and it is also very hard to move up because they have a big turnover rate.

Pros

4 day work week, healthcare, company discounts

Cons

Shorts breaks, write ups, point system

Ok if you are single

There is no work life balance there, management doesn't care about anything but you getting your base rate, it does pay well overall, but if you have a family I wouldn't suggest working there

Pros

Good money

Cons

You'll have very little time for your own life

Little supervision, work independently, always off Sundays and most holidays

Work as a Field Sales rep. Have to drive my own car, drive to multiple accounts a day, order product, check in product at the account, fill product where it belongs. Pretty simple. Monthly Auto allowance for gas, insurance, depreciation. Work iPhone for ordering and emails. Weekly sales goal that is flexible, my supervisor is the best I’ve ever worked under. Paid time off is good and also flexible, good benefits (401k, medical, dental).

Pros

Independent with little supervision, flexible start times, good starting wage

Cons

Drive your own car, overtime is looked down upon

Pay is not competitive

Company let’s you know how well they are doing financially & instead of rewarding employees financially they send you buttons & other lame swag. Annual raises are a joke
