Most of my fellow Visitor Service staff members were great and supportive. The managers and upper management would listen to problems but were unlikely to stick out their necks for you.


Sick leave was so-so. Get sick too much and they started to distrust you. One employee had a doctor's note but her manager didn't believe her and called her doctor. Remember, this is a FEDERAL museum and such things would have been looked at as, at least, unethical. But the managers didn't care OR, more likely, didn't understand the rules involved.


40 hours per week plus events and travel on evenings and weekends. You are also forced to reply to emails at all hours of the day and on the weekends.
