For contractors, it was only with permission; the manager for this assignment was very against allowing contractors to telecommute as she wanted to watch them as they worked.

Telecommuters were the majority of UHG/Optum's clinical staff of Registered Nurses, Pharmacists, Sales, and Women's Health education staff. All telecommute staff had to have an office at home that would lock, as they were working with patient information that needed to be adhered to per HIPAA.
