Reviews about Pay & Benefits for Software Engineer in Unity Technologies
terrible leadership and culture, sinking wlb
Software Engineer (Former Employee) - San Francisco - May 11, 2023
Pros: Possibility of good work-life balance, depending on the manager. Cons: Terrible leadership with very bad communication skills. Constant removal of benefits and delayed promotion cycles leading to pay cuts. Fake culture that leadership only talks about when it suits their agenda. Bad company direction and chasing of trends. Bad high-level management and persistent restructuring. Poor public engageement and persistent dismissal of valid concerns. Lack of use of data with making choices that have company-wide impacts, and admitting to lacking data with no immediate intention to understand the impacts of the decisions. Losing deeply knowledgeable people due to layoff practices. Transparently bad-faith decisions with no accountability for acquisition mistakes of executives. Bad team siloing and lack of collaboration. Poor office infrastructure, including office Wi-Fi.
Pros
Possibility of good work-life balance, depending on the manager.
Cons
transparency issues, accountability issues, bad trend chasing, cutting benefits, cutting pay, moving back comp cycle, telling employees to stop complaining after they take everything away, firing and laying off people who disagree with them, bad middle management
