It's an excellent university. Academic is very strong, everyone studying in the university is very competitive and help to each other. You will make progress with your classmates. Professors are very care about student, even for those cutting-edge research professors, they pay much more time on students' research and daily life. It requires students learn fast, self-motivated

Math Tutor (Former Employee) –  Hefei City, Anhui ProvinceMay 25, 2016
I learn a lot about how to keep doing research on mathematics. What's more, you should have a good plan to do the work and deal well with your group member while doing assignment

reputable university but lack of culture
Principle Investigator, Professor (Current Employee) –  Hefei, ChinaJune 26, 2014
USTC is considered the Caltech of China due to its dominant leadership position in scientific research, elite undergraduate education, and rigorous academic programs. However, USTC is clearly a far distance away from a top university in the world because its solo purpose of existence seems to publish research papers and pays less attention in building its campus culture.

An outstanding environment
Research Assistant (Former Employee) –  Hefei, Anhui, ChinaMay 17, 2013
I am presently in my 3rd year of graduate study in University of Delaware. I have solid foundations in communication theory and digital signal processing. My current research interest lies in the precoding design for MIMO OFDM systems which probably also an important research focus for future wireless communication industry. This research relates to the precoder design to cancel interference for the MIMO OFDM system. For my research, I frequently and proficiently use Matlab, python and C programming as effective tools to analyze and validate the performance of algorithms.

Great University
ESL Teacher (Current Employee) –  Hefei, ChinaDecember 25, 2012
This is a great university in China to work in with the only major drawback being the city of Hefei itself that is polluted and noisy. But the school atmosphere is great, the benefits and integrity of the international affairs office are good, and the teaching arrangement at the "English Practice Center" is great.
Pros
living quarters, school, students, work hours, holidays
Cons
city pollution, noise, pay

The inception and mission of USTC was in response to the urgent need for the national economy, defense construction, and education in science and technology. It has been featured by its competence on scientific and technological research and expanded into humanities and management with a strong scientific and engineering emphasis. USTC has 12 schools, 27 departments, the Special Class for the Gifted Young, the Experimental Class for the Teaching Reform, the Graduate Schools (Hefei, Shanghai, Suzhou), School of Management (Beijing), the Software School, School of Network Education, and School of Continuing Education. According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2010-2011, USTC ranked 49th worldwide among universities.
