The overall budget situation leads to the most stressful part of working at UT - being under-resourced Many departments haven't added staff since the 2008-2010 cuts or have replaced retiring employees. It is not unusual for one person to be attempting to fill 4+ separate roles. Advancement is possible for certain job trees, but not all classifications. It's a place where you are better getting all you can upfront; merit increases have been stalled at 2% per year for 8 years.
