Glory days are past them
Account Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILJanuary 26, 2015
You heard a lot about "when we had Miller" and other "glory days" tales.

A lot of lifers, and people fall into two camps - 12+yrs or in and out in under 5.

I hear that's changing, which will be for the best.

Job Culture
High-paced, prolific, free-spirited and fun work environment with a lobby and cafeteria offering an amazing view of the Lake Michigan and Navy Pier.
Senior Art Director - Chicago (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILMarch 5, 2014
The typical Upshot workday meant high-energy brainstorms and experimentation with strategic design for marketing promotion programs for Seagram Americas and Coco Cola brands. These tasks tested and progressed my creative abilities through creative partnerships. Management drove and inspired creative experts to evolve and expand creative thinking capacities and competencies. I grew as a designer and director exponentially in light of this creative development model.
Pros
Experiential design for 2 major concert series, received 2 promotions: Art Director (New York Metro) and Senior Art Director (Chicago), presented with relocation opportunity to Chicago, met and worked with popular music artists and management, beautiful city and agency.
Cons
Chicago is extremely cold and windy.

Creative company held back by mismanaged higher ups
Jr. Art Director (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILMarch 30, 2013
The creatives were held back strongly by finances and mismanaged higher ups. Promotions are given to those who last longer as opposed to who produces the best work.

fun place to work, if you buy into it
Account (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILSeptember 14, 2012
management here "tracks" certain people who are all about the upshot pride.

you will stay late, you will have ridiculous requests thrown at you, but if you enjoy it, then you won't mind.
Pros
"the culture"
Cons
severely understaffed
