In the information systems department (HSIR) you can find work life balance but only if you have boundaries and respect them. Other than the director on the 4th floor the others don't care so it will be up to you. But, as long as you are competent and strong willed you can maintain work life balance.

Support staff. Create a better work life balance. Stop abusing the time of salaried employees. Competitive pay for the market. Focus on retention. Promote internally and create structures for upward development and promotion of employees. Change your culture- progress with the times. Streamline and organize training and processes across departments.

UTSW is a great place to work. Focus on the value you provide and highlight your strongest examples of customer service, but also be real. I was during my interview and I think management respected that.
