They don't heat the people doing the leg work!

I have to say the benefits are really good here...but management 🤦🏾‍♀️, you are incurred to ask questions BUT that doesn't mean you will get an answer for you supervisor or manager...you can let them know of a trend that's going on ,and they tell you "oh no that's not true, you need to call them" okay but I just told you I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH 2 DIFFERENT PEOPLE....it's the blind and out of touch leading...

Pros

A PAID week of for CHRISTMAS

Cons

The pay sucks and you get VERY small raises

Extremely disappointing and unsatisfactory.

What is the best part of working at the company? The opportunity to work with patients. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Poor leadership, lack of work life balance. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Extremely stressful and punitive. Entirely too demanding. Not enough resources to function in your role. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Super busy, and stressful. Too much work to complete in an 8 hour day. Hardly enough time for either bathroom break or to eat lunch.

decent company

It is a good company to work for, with great benefits and exciting work, which can challenge and make you grow exponentially. But the salary is too low.

Great Benefits Horrible Management

I worked at UT Health for a few months. My stay would've been longer if it wasn't for management. My leadership made me feel like I didn't know what I was doing and I was incompetent. The workload wasn't too hard but it was tedious and we often double worked ourselves. The providers were horrible to the nurses and spoke to us as if we were beneath them. Upper management was no help and neither was HR.

Team was like family

Every team is different, but mine was like a family. The only issue I had was that we often had to volunteer our time for overtime and weekends. Wonderful to build experience.

Great management, benefits

Work life balance was great and flexible when I needed it. Retirement program is great if you're going to stay there your entire career. Management listens to employees.

Great mission, great doctors

Great culture with very bright physicians who were outstanding to work with. A lot of bureaucracy to deal with but motivation was provided by the mission and getting to work with stellar performers.

nothing special about it!

good atmosphere, nut low pay rate, and kina poor management!it's still a good place to start and get experience...you better be ready for some low-paying job that needs another job to compensate and also they don't let you work part-time if they find out!

Lack of mentorship

Highly hierarchical research environment, professors take the credit for their students’ work, don’t give recognition. Very poor mentorship and lack of support for career advancement.

Experience

Everything exactly as one would expect but also not full or boring as every day is different. Just think about what you would want in this role and it's exactly that.

Great training/academic center

Wonderful group of colleagues from support staff to physicians to even house keeping. Great facilities. Diverse in patient population and employees. Continuously expanding and growing in improvements from facilities to research.

Great researchers, poor organization and management

While the research being completed at UTHealth Science is top tier and the individual researchers and health staff are generally great, the management and HR leave a lot to be desired.

benefits are great, work/life is not

well it all depends on your department but usually you're going to get overworked and burnt out. UTHealth appears to be liberal but not in work practices in Texas, it's just for the faculty and students. Unfortunately the other staff do not get the same open minded treatment. Also blatant nepotism. BUT benefits are the best in H-Town

Great learning opportunities

Multiple avenues to learn new things. Meeting people of all different backgrounds helps bring new ideas I would have never encountered if I didn’t work there.

Rewarding work

It's a rewarding place to work. You make a difference in people's lives. They are hiring more and more NPs to work in the inpatient setting. Pay is low for Psych NPs but their benefit are good.

Great for a student

Working at UT Health Houston was a great opportunity as a student. There was enough flexibility and support to manage my studies and do my work. The salary can be a little on the lower end, but having graduate degrees helps.

Great

Great benefits. Flexible schedule. Salary could be better. Plenty of holidays. Overall a really great place to work however, difficult to be promoted due to many with tenure and comfortable until retirement.

Great Benefits

Great environment, supportive and great benefits. The management is okay, and very impersonal when it comes to work evaluations. Flexible with time and easy to request PTO.
