A reputable, local employer
Office employee (Current Employee) –  Madison, WIJuly 17, 2018
This is a great company! The pay is pretty decent, I'd say competitive to similar jobs in the area. With this though, the culture is pretty strong and the work/life balance is pretty nice. They seem to work hard, but provide generous time off and are flexible. People seem to stay at the company for a long time, which can be hard for movement as positions don't come open often.
Pros
Flexible, great people, strong coworkers
Cons
Maternity leave (none), medical is a little pricey

Great Company with Great Values
Marketing Intern - Graphic Design (Former Employee) –  Madison, WIJuly 12, 2018
UW Credit Union was a great place to work, all the employees were friendly and genuinely cared. Everyone felt as if they wanted to be there and enjoyed what they did. There were plenty of fun, engaging activities that took place throughout the year that really brought teams together and made it an enjoyable place to work. The company is heavily structured and built around core values and mission that all helped the company succeed and excel.
Pros
Great employees, culture and work spaces
Cons
At times it was too structured

Inconsistent promotion
Bank Teller (Former Employee) –  Sun Prairie, WIJune 19, 2018
The Corporate structure seems to place priority on those who work in the home office only, not at the branches. There is great inconsistency in how standards are applied in branch. Some are honored for their efforts, while others are completely ignored. Some are encouraged to promote and advance, while others are thwarted in their attempts.

Great place to work but not advancement
TELLER (Former Employee) –  West Allis, WIMay 3, 2018
Loved my time there but was not able to advance. With high turnover at some branches only entry level roles were available, nothing higher. Some managers were more strict then others leading to miscommunication with substitute managers some times
Pros
pay
Cons
lack of advancement

Tuition reimbursement, ample paid time off, training opportunities, and work/life balance is encouraged. Weekend hours are required, but flex scheduling offers time off during the work week.

unethical, no life balance, watched over like a hawk
Call Center Financial Specialist (Former Employee) –  Madison, WIJune 25, 2017
You were tethered to the phone as a financial specialist. If you turned your phone off for even 30 seconds they would call you and yell at you. They always wanted you to work through your lunch hour offering you food if you did. If you didnt you were treated really badly even though you worked 9 + hour days and needed a break. If you got sick you still had to ask to leave and even if you were throwing up they would tell you no. They were very unethical and should of gotten written up for it.
Pros
decent pay
Cons
bathroom breaks were monitored, no life balance, looked bad on if didnt work through lunch hours

Professional environment
Teller (Former Employee) –  Greenfield, WIMay 18, 2017
The culture was so limited it was only three ethically diverse people at the branch that I worked at. If was an extremely slow paste environment with little to know growth. Don't go for a role that you are not willing to stay in for a long period of time.
Pros
college student friendly, customers were great
Cons
short breaks, limited/ no health care options, slow environment

Embraces a good work life balance culture. Pay is competitive and fair for the area. Insurance offerings are comprehensive and similar to other employers in the area.

I learned alot working at UW Credit union. The way they resepect people, aswell as looking at problems in a different prospective to solve problems is like no other company I've ever worked for.

Great Company Values
Bilingual Teller (Former Employee) –  Madison, WINovember 9, 2016
This organization truly puts the member's best interest first. Upper management is a bit detached from the actual branches but then come in and put pressure on branch management without knowledge of actual branch demographics. Other than that, I feel that it is a pretty good place to work.

Teller (Former Employee) –  Milwaukee, WIOctober 30, 2016
The company is cultish, you must be drinking the UWCU kool-aid to fit in, advancement is almost impossible, tellers have too much on their plates.. medical insurance sucks, but dental and vision is good
Pros
dental and vision converage
Cons
lack of opportunity to grow

TELLER (Current Employee) –  Milwaukee, WIOctober 26, 2015
I have had a great experience in building myself up into a entry level management position. The credit union has given me many opportunities to advance myself; scheduling the staff, handling new training employee sessions, managing the money for the vaults including shipments and audits.

The staff sees me as a teller supervisor to handle any questions or concerns.

The only downfall is work life balance, I take on all the task to operate the branch in a smooth transition. Even on the weekends it can be stressful help out other branches because the function differently.
Pros
Variable Rewards
Cons
overload of weekend hours
