Just like any other corporation, they are truly in it for the money, even after they feed you they're whole spill on how they're not. If you are not a DVM you're opinion will not matter. The only way to have job security with VVC is being a doctor no matter how good you are at your job. They allow DVMs to treat support staff like trash as long as they DVM is bringing in the money. Run away as fast as you can.

A regrettable experience

In 3 decades of working as a veterinary technician, I have never had as horrid of an experience as Valley Veterinary Care offered. This corporation, specifically the Dallas Animal Emergency location, could be used as an example of how to do everything poorly. From the owners, to the managers, especially the regional manager of the DFW area, you will feel as if you are with nothing to them. At no point does anyone in management, especially regional management, appear to have any care or value for you as a worker. Management is unskilled, uncaring, and thankfully mostly absent. Higher ups have zero care for the hospital or workers, and will gaslight you should you dare to question their abysmal leadership. If you care at all about your dignity or self worth, do not work at Dallas Animal Emergency, owned by Valley Veterinary Care.

Pros

Every "pro" has been extinguished since their acquisition.

Cons

Horrid unskilled management, nepotism, no value placed on skill, knowledge, or the worker at all

Do not even enter. RUN away

VVC is the worst veterinary company out there. Just buying companies left and right and leaving you out to fail. Complaining about hospitals not making money but they take doctors to a nice get away trip. what a joke of a company.

Pros

none

Cons

The entire company

Run far away

I would never recommend anyone to work here. Most unorganized company I’ve ever worked for. No support given to people that were less than doctors and owners were heavily involved creating nothing but constant drama. Intimidated us on the treatment floor during work. Overheard nasty comments. Required staff to be advanced in skills yet gave us no incentive for continuing education. $500 a year… what a joke.

Pros

The people that actually work IN the clinics

Cons

Everything else

Corporate doesn’t care about you unless you are a veterinarian

This company is greedy and has repeatedly guilt tripped their employees when asking for wages, which is a huge red flag in itself. The best part is, they spend thousands of dollars annually taking their veterinarians to places like Cabo and Vail but would rather eat dirt than let any of that money trickle down to their support staff (techs, assistants, receptionists). They also love to promote from within so they can give you a less than deserved wage. The prices that pet owners are paying for blood work, vaccines, hospitalized treatments, etc are something that should be charged in speciality, board certified practices, not in small, general practice clinics who don’t even employee certified technicians to administer treatments (because RVTs require more money.) They love to make promises they don’t intend to keep regarding clinic culture, funding for company events, and standard holiday pay/hours.

Pros

Teaches you what gaslighting is

Cons

Greedy company

Great coworkers, not so great management

I’ve worked at Border for over 2 years and stayed stagnant after putting in much effort and perusing a higher position. Management had offered a position to me and after I excepted, the position “didn't exist.” Kennels were constantly treated bad and left as custodians to the entire clinic. Management has chosen favorites and it’s clear who's at the bottom. If the manager does not like you, you’ll receive glares as well as a harsh attitude. Most of the workers are pretty great, some have an attitude. If you’re ok with staying in the same positions with bad pay go for it :/ but theres better out there.

Veterinary corporation that truly is just in it for the money

I have watched this corporation send their doctors on paid “CE” vacations including out of the country but can’t afford to pay their technicians or receptionists living wages or ever give pay raises. This company preaches family values but I want nothing to do with that family. New staff in corporate every month, they ruined everyone’s taxes and then refused to apologize or make it right. If your paycheck is correct it’s a miracle, if it’s not, don’t bother bringing it up, if they ever pay you, you’ll have to jump through rings of fire to get it. All they care about is their doctors (I’ve yet to meet a single doctor that actually likes the company) and they keep buying more and more hospitals and skimping out on wages for the hospitals they do have.It may seem great at first, it’s not.DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY

Pros

The staff itself

Cons

The company

Strong Family Bond

I have worked with Valley Veterinary Care for one year, and have loved every minute of it. I worked originally as a Veterinary Technician in their Central Texas GP location. As we all know, Vet Techs are stretched thin and are feeling overworked everywhere. Valley Vet understood that and continued to support us even when we were all feeling burnt out. Now I have joined the corporate side, and was extremely surprised at how warm and inviting everyone is! It truly is a family-like bond that keeps this company running, and I look forward to my long career with them!

Pros

Strong support system

Cons

Staffing
