Investment leader, highly touted in the industry. Competitive interview process. Once you get in, great support in ongoing education, Series licensing, etc. Phone roles are a bit challenging, they throw you on with minimal training and it's really drinking from a firehose. Seems to be a divide forming as they are doing more external hiring to manage these client-facing roles than promoting from within.Company has been focused on growth, and it's led to burnout across client facing roles. The responsibility levels that were delivered to us as "exceptional times" and to "grit our teeth through this rough patch" at the start of COVID have now turned into the normal service level, and people are noticing (and leaving). Management seems content with growing the company at the expense of current staff's workload and work-life balance. Technology is HORRIBLE, laughable in some regards. All of it. Internal trading systems, client communication systems, the Vanguard website, it's consistently crashing and creating a headache for clients, advisors, support staff, etc. It's become a running joke when the next thing will crash. Frustrating since it torpedoes your ability to perform work for the day, making tomorrow's work doubled, so on so on.Pay is noticeably lacking (we all knew this), but the benefits that supposedly make up for it have slowly been dwindling as well. Recent cuts to the retirement medical benefits, HSA perks, etc. have not gone unnoticed. With that, the company got stiffed on the Partnership bonus (a midyear bonus announced based on how the company & investments -

Really good benefits. 14% into 401k, health coverage, lots of PTO. Feel underpaid and the company cannot decide if they want to do scalable advice or personal advice

Good starter job but hard long term prospects

Vanguard is a great place to start a career but the salary advancement is stagnant for the most part. Internal hiring is extremely competitive and there are always external hires that get the positions you think you are suited for.

Great mission and company

A lot of room for growth and opportunities. As long as you meet metrics and standards. Falling behind in entry level jobs leads stagnation and layoffs. They want you to improve and move on to other roles and departments

Pros

Room for advancement

Cons

Lower compensation compared to industry

Great Work/Life balance and Benefits. Low Pay

Entry level positions work only 37.5 hours a week. Plenty of time off, however it can be dificualt to secure time around major holidays. It tends to underpay employees and does not have the most advancement opportunites especially in the Charlotte office. I was eventually promoted from an hourly position (quoted as a projected annual salary) to a salaried position which provided more flexibility and a higher feeling of self worth and mutual trust(not being paid a low hourly wage like when you first start off with a part time job), however in a move that I can only assume was to cut costs (something vanguard is always looking to do) changed over hundreds of jobs from salaried back to hourly. This was extremely disappointing for us employees that experienced the change.

Pros

excellent 401k plan and amount of time off

Cons

low pay, company cost cutting

Fun place to work with advancement oppotunities

Vanguard is a low cost firm that will allow for a lot of work life balance and advancement. Employees will not be provided adequate compensation and managers will stress sales and lead generation in various client facing roles. There are no incentive bonuses but those who fail to meet goals or a department average of the goals will not advance in the company.

Pros

Work/life balance

Cons

Low salary

Financial Advisor

Working at Vanguard is a great place to start. It's an excellent opportunity to gain experience and also have your education paid for if you desire. There are few opportunities for a long term career primarily due to the low pay and the fact that you have to network and shake the right hands to get promoted. Having Vanguard on my resume and the experience that I've gained will likely be Vanguard's largest positive contribution to me, in terms of finding new employment.

Pros

Pto, health insurance

Cons

compensation
