I have been dealing with VMS for the last 7 years as a user. Our service engineers live in the area and are dispatched from home. When we have an unusual problem engineers from an adjoining area fill in or give additional help. Varian spends a lot of resources training their team. There seems to be a very low turnover rate.
Yes, basically home serves as the home base or office and all calls for service come from the Varian dispatch Center. Most training and correspondence are done thru the home office.
