Tutor in Germantown, MD
on February 12, 2020
According my experience there is late response of tutor requests; low rate of tutor payment; a very slowly change rate and very small pay rise of the tutor. I think, there is unjustified ratio of the amount between the company and tutoring fees. For example, another tutoring companies similar to Varsity, offer rate starting from 50% of client fee and after 40-50 hours of tutiring rase it to 60%.

Best advice I can give you:They pay you $25 (NOT including planning, materials, travel, or calls with the parent)And charge $75. There is NO supervisor. No support. No pay for like 40% of your work. Work elsewhere.
Tutor in Remote

This company offers no support to their tutors. You are referred to an email and then have to wait for 24-48 hours. Their technical department is none existence.

Company pays tutor around $14 to $15. Even the Walmart and fast food restaurants value the time of their employees better than this company. We are not sure how much they charge the clients, but tutors are remunerated very poorly.
Private Tutor in Houston, TX
on November 13, 2023
VT was my primary source of income for a couple years. There are some benefits, though I think the costs outweigh them, so I don't work there anymore. The benefits are that there are a lot of students and I always had a full schedule. The drawbacks are that the pay is awful, the classroom software is buggy, tech support sucks, and oh yeah the pay is awful.
