Tutor in Germantown, MD
on February 12, 2020
According my experience there is late response of tutor requests; low rate of tutor payment; a very slowly change rate and very small pay rise of the tutor. I think, there is unjustified ratio of the amount between the company and tutoring fees. For example, another tutoring companies similar to Varsity, offer rate starting from 50% of client fee and after 40-50 hours of tutiring rase it to 60%.

Great place to work with limited hours available during summer. Varsity tutors are very independent and choose the hours that they want to work. The pay is not the best at 15 hr
Educational Sales Consultant in Remote
on August 11, 2022
Pros: - Fully Remote- Technology Provided (minus the mandatory ethernet cable) - Paid Floating Holiday (Birthday or other holiday)- Very friendly employees and management Cons: - Very monotonous job due to the high volume sales and repetitive sales script- Tutoring is grossly overpriced making it VERY hard to obtain a sale and you need those because the expectations are high - The entire company is so sales-focused that in all positions you are guaranteed to dabble in and/or be trained for sales work even if you apply as a tutor- It is absolutely and 100% telemarketing so don't apply if you're not into that
Educational Sales Coordinator/Representative in Remote
on August 9, 2022
I just completed the Educational Sales Coordinator (seasonal role) with Varsity Tutors. By the end of my seasonal period, I had only made a couple of sales, so they decided not to offer me a tenured position. However, given the opportunity, I would absolutely give this role another shot. I loved everyone that I worked with. Everyone from the hiring staff to the training managers and from my colleagues to tenure managers were friendly, supportive, caring, and empathetic. The company culture here is incredible!I am currently applying for other positions at Varsity Tutors, as this is a wonderful place to start a long-term career.

It all starts with a deceptive interview process. They do not let you know that sales is a huge aspect of the job. They made. It seem like we were just there to help students and not meet sales goals. I know that so many people were let go after spending time trying to meet sales goals during their training period. If you did not meet your sales goal twice, you were out. And essentially if you were still in training for the 3 months, if you missed it once you were out. It wasted a bunch of people's time. Even after you make it through and are a full-fledged account representative, they were not helpful and helping you achieve your goals and wanted you to deceive customers and essentially just beg them for money
