I think they have responded very well by providing free tutoring to clients who are interested. I work strictly online, so I cannot make comments about tutors who accept in-person opportunities where the risk of contracting COVID-19 is higher.
They responded fairly quickly to the pandemic and immediately encouraged all tutors to switch to online lessons with their usual in-person clients. Switching to online honestly has made scheduling more flexible for me since I do not have to commute to a student's home. However, technical issues have been more frequent due to the mass shift to the online platform.
I believe they have responded as best as they could during what has been a very trying time for educators and parents alike.
I am fairly disappointed how they responded. It is good that they are offering free tutoring to students, however, they haven't helped the tutors out much. Normally, I'd be making double what I'm making now because in-person tutoring is given a higher rate, however, since there are no in-person opportunities at the moment because of COVID-19, I am losing a lot of money. All in all Varsity Tutors is a company that doesn't seem to care much about their tutors.
