Always offers lessons in the business whether you know it or not.
Freelance Video Editor (Former Employee) –  Queens, NYMay 21, 2018
Working as a freelance editor, they taught me the basics of how to create a professional editing template along with the lingo. The problem with working freelance was that the projects were inconsistent and the scheduling was brutal if they didn't have anything for you to do.
Pros
Friendly staff, great break room
Cons
Freelance scheduling is very inconsistent

eCommerce / Platform Partnerships Intern (Former Employee) –  New York, NYMay 15, 2018
I loved working at VaynerMedia as an Intern. Although the pay wasn't much, the internship program was set up in order to teach us something. The employees are all very friendly and it is a pleasure working around all of them.
Pros
Free lunches occasionally, Leniency

Group Account Director (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAApril 27, 2018
Mismanagement all around, I am still in recovery from my time there. It seems to have left a black mark on my resume, since it's not helping me to secure employment- an issue I've never had previously. People aren't disposable media.

Assistant Editor (Former Employee) –  New York, NYNovember 28, 2017
I enjoyed working at VaynerMedia. It was the perfect first job for me in New York and I learned a lot. The people were very cool and I enjoyed being around them. Management could have been better with communicating and providing more opportunities for growth.
Pros
Company culture, work hours
Cons
Not enough staff (too many freelancers, hence no benefits), no room for growth, poor pay

Beware of being paid every 30 days as freelance.
Freelance Assistant Editor (Former Employee) –  Long Island City, NYOctober 29, 2017
Not consistent work, management is very rushed and is not exactly there to answer your questions. Managment needs to work on communication and need to train new hires better. They pay after 30 days which is not acceptable in NYC due to freelance laws.
Cons
Late pay. Inconsistent work.

Fun and fast-paced, but no security
Assistant (Former Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 24, 2017
Lots of young, fun people, but many managers do not get proper training/mentoring on professionalism. The cool culture and trendy image on social media were more important to the "People and Experiences Team" than actual Human Resource issues.

VERY LITTLE JOB SECURITY - there is not a lot of transparency between management and lower levels about where the company is going. Company-wide meetings are full of buzzwords, but nothing substantial about what is actually happening. You could have great reviews, and then be eliminated as soon as VM loses a client with no notice. Accounts teams are in silos and are super protective over their own work, but not necessarily their colleagues. Many are looking out for number 1. Loyalty and frank communication are hard to come by.

Growth company
Entry Level (Current Employee) –  New York, NYJuly 9, 2017
Fast growing company with dynamic work environment. One of the best digital marketing agencies in the USA so lot's of competition among teams and other firms.

But, the fast pace environment comes with problems too. There's some managerial and people issues that are left unsolved as managers are focused on growth and revenue.
Pros
Growth of company, Gary Vaynerchuk
Cons
Immature people

So much free coffee and snacks, but where is the pool table?
Animator (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJune 21, 2017
Relaxed and open environment with plenty of free snacks, cold brew coffee and happy hours. Most employees are friendly and outgoing. Sometimes management is sloppy or even confused by their own responsibilities.
Pros
relaxed environment
Cons
management is sloppy

Blind Leading the Blind
Production Manager (Former Employee) –  New York, NYMay 16, 2017
VaynerMedia is a place that is filled with, in large part, people that are fresh out of college (or have been working there since graduating) and enjoy working in a place that continues the fratty lifestyle. There is no professionalism at VaynerMedia. In fact, professionalism is off-putting to many there. Job titles are handed out like candy without the experience to match. Senior management does not value smarts or efficiency, but rather the people they have favoritism for, often leading to the wrong people in the wrong roles making it incredibly difficult to get the job done from the bottom up. I would say that was the hardest, and most frustrating, part of working there. Vayner would rather have 500+ employees and pay them like garbage when they could easily get by with half the amount of employees if they got the right, smart people and paid them what they deserve - ultimately, the work would benefit from this, too, and they could certainly use a lot of help in that department.

Social first agency always on the cutting edge.
Senior Account Executive (Former Employee) –  New York, NYApril 18, 2017
VaynerMedia was a great place to learn in a fast pace environment but is hindered by the lack of good & proper management. It's rare you will find a good people manager.
Pros
Unlimited vacation
Cons
Peer reviews weigh a lot and if big accounts a lost, they "restructure"

VaynerMedia moves at internet speeds, no small feat considering the scope of their client base and the rate at which new platforms for content continue to appear.

Associate Data Analyst (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJanuary 26, 2017
Nobody is really friendly at the office. A lot of false characters and incompetent people in higher positions. People will steal your credit when things work out and blame you if they don't. Non-challenging work.

Account Director - Strategy (Current Employee) –  New York, NYJune 29, 2015
I love the culture at VaynerMedia. Every day, I come to work ready to learn something new. They truly value their employees and there is so many opportunities to grow and contribute to the team in ways beyond what's required of you.
Pros

Overall fun place to work, but management needs help
Account Executive (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJune 27, 2013
Management makes promises to employees management has no intention of keeping.
-Executives make promises to clients without checking to see if their employees have "bandwidth" to handle it.
-There are too many clients and work for the amount of employees. Oh, and they're pitching for more and more business every day.
-You're forced to push "emerging tech" on clients, not b/c it makes sense or solves the client problem at hand, but b/c the executives have invested in the platform. That's either shady or smart, I haven't decided.
-There is no room for error here. Miss a deadline for an assignment, usually given to you that day and expected to be turned around by the end of that same day, you're threatened to be fired or demoted.
-Management are very poor communicators and expect you to read their minds. It's your fault and you've disappointed them when you can't. Also you're being demoted.
-Be prepared to stay in the dark about everything until you're being demoted.
-The "thank you economy" they are so proud of? Consists management not taking responsibility for their mistakes, so you are reprimanded for things that are 9 times out of 10 out of your control. Then they "S&D" you [read as try to buy you off] with cookies and cupcakes. An apology would be better.
-Vayner is very good about getting press for themselves and the Vayner name. Not very good at creating good work.
Pros
Good company culture
Cons
No work life balance
