Work & Life Balance

Avionics Technician in Burbank, CA

I loved the work I did, but the environment needed some work.
This job is very cliqueish. Very hard to get along with everyone since not everyone getts along. The environment is very stressful compared to the pay. They have new management now. Hopefully it is turning around.

The time I had working there was good for the most part, I was 18 when I was working there, lost my job due to Covid-19. Everyone there is friendly, I liked my co-workers, managers, and etc, but all everyone talks about here is the decision making of upper management which can make some controversial decisions sometimes. I had fun working there but I was young and not many people told me how everything really went, I didn’t really care about anything but I just loved what I did and that was being a technician

There are too many favorites with management , especially general manager. They are asked to report on other employees and it feels like being back in kindergarten, junior high or high school. They also require you to wear many hats regardless if you can get the jobs done realistically or in a timely manner or else. All desks are in “pods” of 4. Your nearest coworker is exactly 36” apart in any direction. No privacy to deal with covid-19 or conversing with customers. Voices echo and it sounds like a call center. It’s a joke if you’re fired, show up for your shift, at noon get your last check and be escorted out of the building.

I worked for a few years in Velocity, and this is one of the worst places to work for. I would not let my worst enemy work here. A lot of unskilled people work here with no experience in the aerospace industry. The management has no experience in management and needs anger management classes. Management do not care about their employees; the only thing they care about is making the financial goal at the end of the month for their stockholders. If you are hired, be prepared to put your nose to the grindstone, don't take back, and take the whipping. P.S. Say hi to Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald Duck and Goofy for me. Enjoy!!!

Poor and inexperience management. Worked with upper management and there were always meeting but no improvement. Technicians were lazy and always wanted an end unit meaning always wanted another shop to fix their repair and pass the cost of their EU(end unit) to customer as an exchange or swap.
