Maintenance Planner/Scheduler/Stores Clerk (Former Employee) –  Augusta-Richmond County, GADecember 12, 2017
Typical day included; reviewing work orders / work requests for resourcing requirements. Requested quotes from suppliers/vendors for parts/materials and created purchase requisitions.

Completed planning/resourcing requirements of work orders and scheduled according to process equipment availability provided by production leaders.

Interacted closely with maintenance craftsmen (mechanical and I&E technicians), contractors, operators, supervision, engineering, and production leaders to ensure that I understood their expectations and they understood the planned work.

As a result of this I learned process and process equipment technical information that benefited me to become a more skilled planner and scheduler.

Engineering and maintenance manager is very knowledgeable in both disciplines and displays an excellent work ethic and appreciation of all associates. Manager did not micro-manage therefore allowing associates a certain degree of flexibility to achieve goals.

Hardest part of the job was that systems were not in place early on to effectively plan and schedule maintenance work. This resulted in usually not having parts available, decreased productivity, and excessive multi-tasking to help build / improve systems (maintenance and purchasing) within the CMMS to increase spare parts inventory and supplier/vendor options, while actively performing daily planning and scheduling activities to support operations' needs while experiencing routine equipment/part failures usually as a result of processing issues / equipment design issues, etc. Because of these types
more... of issues, operations were unable to adhere to a weekly maintenance schedule and required many schedule breaking / reactive needs usually resulting in additional process downtime and a high percentage of rescheduled maintenance work.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working closely with, and learning from maintenance and operation associates to help correct issues and improve systems.
Good core work hours 7:00-3:00 for day associates with paid lunch break (30 min.)
