Verizon provides room for advancement to management levels by promoting from within. Verizon provides very good benefits and pay while also providing training.

No longer the best wireless carrier

If there isn't anything nice to say, I won't say anything. Many layoffs every year of long term knowledgeable employees to save money. Morale is very low. Has transferred many departments to offshore countries and outside contractors. Network is no longer the best due to aforementioned.

Productive & advanced

Great place to work. Competitive salary & benefits. Training is great and you work without anyone watching every move you make. You are trained professionals who meet deadlines

Good People and culture

Stress is high, but pay and the start of work life balance is worth it. I have been here for 10 years and do not plan on leaving. Recent. layoffs and direction of the ceo have not been the greatest.

I really like verizon

Work life balance is great. Your mileage may very. Probably depends on your role and management chain. There is red tape but it's a huge org so I think that comes with the territory.

Systems/IT issues, but solid business plan

VZW needs to get its systems and processes cleaned up and functional and it would be a really great place to work. Most people are good at what they do and helpful and the culture is positive.

Need to keep excelling

You need to keep up and keep moving forward. If you are a learner you will excel. Like all big companies there are some that do little, some that do a lot, and the rest in the middle. Overall a good experience.

Pros

Pay was good

Cons

Hard to get them to pay for training. Keep referring you to free training. Always a treat of cuts.

Poor internal culture. Poor conflict resolution.

Verizon was my customer while at Nortel. I watched the company begin. Their internal software is outdated and one reason for hiring interns cheaply rather than spending the resources to find answers to their problems. they have a lot of changes needed.

Pros

Can't think of many.

Cons

Look at how their network operates in 2023. Poorly.

Way too much

Everything is spread way to thin. Many holes in people being hired. The amount of work continues to grow. Not a lot of support as you learn. Pay & benefits are outstanding

Pros

mgmt helps.

Cons

Senior management lacking direction

Senior management lacking direction. They would not react to input and basically drones to meet their quotas.

Pros

Met interesting clients

Cons

Senior management lacking direction

Limited Growth, Massive Debt, Beholden to Wall St

Made redundant after 15 years of service with 1 month notice after a poor quarterly report to shareholders. Department completely restructured and described as "flying the plane as we're building it" while being told there is more work than ever. Increasing disconnect between executive leadership and many layers of management. KPI frequently redefined. Data warehousing fragmented and poorly maintained.

Pros

Health Benefits

Cons

Communication

Great benefits

Very flexible; mostly work from home since 2020. Project based without micromanagement. Only work for CSX in our office. Hardest part is working with old infrastructure. Best is working with smart people.

Supportive and educational

At Verizon it is not uncommon to be overwhelmed with the amount of work that must be accomplished and especially as you get closer to months end. The manager encourages us to reach out to him and others for support.

A very good place to work

I worked at Verizon for 30+ years before retiring to pursue other interests. As an engineer, it was a challenging environment. I enjoyed most of my day to day interactions with my coworkers.

Very disorganized and always looking to cut personnel

I regretted spending so much time for this company when there are better company who pay more and treat their employees better. You know their name, but not how they treat their employees!

Cons

Health care is expensive and barely average

Providing a positive work environment centered around personal growth and success is extremely important to us, so we appreciate you sharing your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to express your opinions on potential areas of improvement.

Management make you forget all the good.

The company itself, the pay and the benefits are good. However, local management are so beyond terrible that it erases the good. They do not want to learn what the job entails, but do want to micro-management every aspect of what you are doing. You are only allowed time off if you are still willing to work and answer all call and emails. Be prepared to read tea leaves as you try to decipher managements bi-polar wants on a daily basis.

Pros

Pay, benefits and being able to transfer to other parts of the country

Cons

MANAGEMENT. Work life balance. Negative and overall hostile working environment.

Good job, beyond awful management

Work hard and get ahead is the American way, right? Unfortunately management in Etown, KY never got that memo. The hardest workers are punished with having the entire workload while subpar workers are rewarded by having no assignments. Management make sure anyone who would like to get ahead are drove into the ground until they want to quit. HR protects management and do not provide any support for anyone below.

Pros

Pay and benefits are good for the area

Cons

Management are incapable of empathy and will not tolerate any employee who has aspirations of growth, Do not expect to have a work/life balance here, Come in fully trained because there is no proper training provided.
