I made some great friend's.Learned about what I was capable of, in a very fast paced enviroment.
Back tender (Former Employee) – Bucksport, ME – May 18, 2017
Fast paced, very hot (140 degrees), 12 hour shifts, few break's.
Confidence in my self, and my abilities, how to direct a crew. Safety.
Managment, I had a succesion of different people, that were very young for the job at hand, mid 20's. teacher and babysitter.
Vastly different from your normal day job, your crew was your family, older hand's would take time to explain operational issues to the younger members. Safety, better way...etc.
You are constantly dealing with one crisis to the next, that took time out of your already busy day.
Actually, getting relieved from your shift, crew members going home in one piece, with everything running well. The next crew coming in for their shift, had the best possible start to their day.
Paid well, health care, 401k, 6 week's vacation time, 14 days a month off.
Breaks were far and few between, lucky if you got to sit down and eat lunch.
