Flexible hours works on your own time
Certified Veterinary Technician (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - June 25, 2020
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPro- You sign up for hours and shifts you want to cover. See how different clinics work. Con- All shifts are up in Denver so if you live in the springs you have to travel to Denver to work.
Pros
make your own schedule
Cons
All clinics are up in Denver

Official response from Veterinary System Services
June 29, 2020Thank you so much for your commitment to the veterinary industry, and for your feedback about our company! I know it can be very frustrating to travel for shifts. We have recently signed multiple clinics in Colorado Springs, and these shifts should be up on the software now! Please reach out to your manager directly if you're having difficulty seeing them, or if you'd like more information about these new clinics.
Huge promises, no delivery. Underpaid.
Technician Assistant (Current Employee) - Colorado - May 3, 2022
It’s nice that they never force you to work anywhere, you get to create your own schedule. Huge draw in, and then told in hiring interview/meeting there are so many opportunities in the local area. Not true at all. Usually 1+ hours away, and the pay is minimal. You can make more money working during weekends and overnights but still not equivalent to what a clinic would pay you as an employee. Also, learned that I’m paid way less than someone in the same position with less experience. Overall lack of transparency and feel talked down to by management. Most of the clinics have been great, but the main ones always seeking help will ignore you during your shift or act like you’re not welcome.

Flexibility, novelty, support
Certified Veterinary Technician (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - June 13, 2020
I joined VSS shortly after becoming certified as a technician. I enjoy working for this firm because of the immense amount of flexibility and independence I enjoy. I have experienced some degree of professional growth through feedback and reviews. The variety of shifts has allowed me to focus my work in practices or areas of practice that I find the most fulfillment.
Pros
annual reviews, good pay, full benefits, flexibility
Cons
no pet care discount, lack of true camaraderie

June 15, 2020We're so excited to hear that the flexibility of relief work works well for your schedule and your career plans moving forward! Also, I'm not sure if you're aware, but we do offer a group pet insurance plan to help cover costs of pet care, since we don't have a central hospital where you can take your pets for discounted care. As always, any tips on what we can be doing better for you, or ideas on employee community events to build up the camaraderie a bit more are welcome! Don't hesitate to reach out to your account manager or the rest of the management team. We're here for you.
Poor management that only cares about it’s clients
Veterinary Technician (Former Employee) - Denver, CO - May 7, 2020
The account managers only care about the clients and making them happy, and could care less about the technicians and other employees. They try to get away with paying as little as possible to maximize how much they make off of you per hour.
Pros
Somewhat flexible schedule, health insurance paid for (although it’s a horrible policy with very little coverage)
Cons
Just about everything else not mentioned in pros

Appears to be a great place
Relief Veterinary Technician (Current Employee) - Morrison, CO - December 21, 2019
I honestly just started this job so I do not have enough experience to have an opinion. My first shift isn't until Monday, but I have a feeling I will like the variety.

Supportive place to work
Certified Veterinary Technician (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - November 25, 2019
I would recommend VSS to all motivated veterinary technicians. You need to be a self-starter. You need to be able to jump in and go with the flow. This is not a job for someone who is shy or unsure. You will need excellent communication skills.
VSS is very supportive and a wonderful team to work for.

Exceptional Experience
Veterinary Receptionist (Former Employee) - Colorado - November 19, 2019
Great experience. The cordinaters are all very nice, helpful and caring about those on their team. They support their employees in all aspects. The CEO/ owner is always looking for new ways to improve employees environment in the company. All employees are encouraged to share their experience and insites in the field to help fellow employees. I wish there was availability in Arizona.
