The most enjoyable part of the job is crew and clients compensations are good and hours for work are good. Attracts potential customers by answering product and service questions; suggesting information about other products and services. Opens customer accounts by recording account information. Maintains customer records by updating account information.

Service Specialist (Former Employee) –  Woodland Hills, CAMay 15, 2018
Viking's cruises are unparalleled in quality and they are rightfully an industry leader. However, the call center suffers from a highly restrictive atmosphere. Do not work here if you have outside interests/obligations that require flexibility. Do not work here if you have difficulty being micro-managed.

Working at Viking
Direct Sales Agent (Former Employee) –  Woodland Hills, CAApril 27, 2018
Working at Viking could be absolutely fantastic at times and at other times can be very stressful due to the fact that everyone is always worried about being fired.

Before looking to leave Viking about 25 people across all departments we're terminated. They have a quick trigger finger and high turn over.

Over all I loved my experience at Viking and had a lot of fun performing the job.
Pros
free lunch, free cruise, easy job
Cons
Very strict with break times, high turnover, Micro-Managed time

Direct Sales Consultant (Current Employee) –  Boston, MAApril 10, 2018
Was fair pay for the stress/expectations but they have changed the commission plan several times, never in employees favor even though they try to say it is.

Management acts as if you are below them and they do not like to share information. They need to reevaluate the managers of the call centers themselves. They are a huge problem and a big reason for the high turnover.

Unprodcution work place, like a trip back to high school
Travel Sales Counselor - Inside Sales (Current Employee) –  Boston, MAMarch 10, 2018
A typical day is being surrounded by management asking you your stats every hour. It's extrememly micromanaged by a group of underqualified folks. Its really a shame because the product is top notch. Kudos to the CEO,but wake up senior management you have a culture problem that needs to catch up to the times. And I'm not even a millenial! The culture is toxic from the get. The work is not hard, it's he constant belittling from management. The most enjoyable part of the job was the clients and helping them acheive the trip of their dreams and a lifetime. That, and going home each day. It's time to move on......Bon Voyage Viking
Pros
Great Health Benefits
Cons
See above, toxic environment from Director to Admin.

fast-paced, great people, but you need to have a good work ethic
Lead Customer Support Specialist (Current Employee) –  Woodland Hills, CAFebruary 22, 2018
It's a lot of work answering calls and massive amounts of ever-changing information to retain. Customer service can sometimes be a thankless job but if you're really good there're opportunities for career advancement and sales if you want that. you need to have thick skin to deal with some callers but thats pretty much how call center life is. Sales metrics change with market forces so it keeps you on your toes if youre in sales. I think those are the hardest parts of this job. oh yah and theres a dress code but its casual on fridays/weekends
They offer the best health care plans of any company I've ever worked in - maybe because its not an American company, the best pay rates in the cruise/ travel industry. Service has the highest hourly wage in the area and in sales you can make the big bucks if you're good. I made more here in customer service than my manager in my last job.
Company culture is great- i mean everyone gets along for the most part - there are people from diverse backgrounds - everybodys really friendly in reservations and air - idk about other departments.
No company is ever perfect but its still the best place i've ever worked. I think management is pretty fair- they look out for your success and they're easily accessable plus my own sup was the one that encouraged me to apply for the lead position
Pros
Amazing health benefits and hourly wages, gym membership, opportunities for advancement with growing company IF you're good at what you do, free food, potlucks, free cruise, amazing product, 401K, company parties
Cons
Fast paced - policies are changed/updated frequently, lots of info to retain, typical call center management on attendance (no grace periods- 1 minute late is still late), chance of getting 4am shift or working till 9pm

Terrible place to work
Customer Service Specialist (Former Employee) –  Boston, MAFebruary 17, 2018
Read between the lines. They are always hiring. There's a reason for that. Nobody has a clue what they are doing. the management is the worst. They don't care about anything but getting the money. Once they have it they change the trips without informing employees before passengers and you never get answers. You will hate it here. They make it sound fantastic. It's a dump. Unless you like to steal people's money and not have answers for them, go anywhere else
Pros

Cons
Schedule is horrible, no flexibility, management doesn't care about anything but the money. No work life balance, just stress.

Sales Consultant (Former Employee) –  Boston, MAJanuary 31, 2018
The management here is absolutely awful and soul destroying. The call center managers are both evil people. The director of sales is a nasty and degrading woman. If woman is the right word for her. Get ready to have no life if you decide to work here.

Service Specialist (Former Employee) –  Woodland Hills, CANovember 2, 2017
On Oct. 26, 2017, I was fired without cause and suspect the reasons were rooted in national origin and religion discrimination and retaliation for productive input to senior manager.
Pros
Free coffee, quality t-shirt giveaways, camaraderie among employees
Cons
"Viking Is You" campaign is employee brainwashing, plain and simple.

The company is okay to work for
Customer Relations Specialist (Former Employee) –  Woodland Hills, CAOctober 6, 2017
The job itself is very doable, great pay and benefits, however, the senior manager of Customer Relations is the sole reason for employees to look elsewhere. Poor management skills, over works employees and while the pay is good, the additional side work you're given, that's not included in your job title is what makes the pay not good enough.
Pros
A lot of company perks, great benefits.
Cons
Poor management.

Travel Consultant (Former Employee) –  Boston, MASeptember 23, 2017
Stress stress stress- They do not care about employees. Very deceptive hiring practices. They promise the sales team the opportunity to make up to $100,000 but they make it impossible for you to achieve their goal even if you bring in Millions for the company on a monthly basis. "You will not earn a commission on it"

Good pay possible but at a cost
Travel Sales Consultant (Current Employee) –  Boston, MAJuly 19, 2017
Been at Viking almost 10 years; what started as a company that cared about its employees had devolved to a revolving door that only focuses on whatever metrics they find important that month (constantly changes). Great medical benefits and fun coworkers but the micromanaging, lack of work life balance, and for a travel company travel opportunities are almost non existent make this no longer a pleasant work atmosphere.
Pros
Great medical benefits, opportunities for high pay
Cons
Micromanaging to the extreme, you're not allowed to even get up to get a glass of water if you're not on break, Expect to work nights weekends holidays and snowstorms
