Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) – New Jersey – March 26, 2018
A typical day starts understaffed and hard to manage. you will learn a lot about angry customers due to being shortstaffed and underbudgeted, the management is overworked and knowledgeable, they often have to fill in due to budget issues, the hardest part is trying to complete your day fully and with a smile, trying to motivate associates that are not properly trained is not an easy thing to do, new employees are often trained in the evening by newer employees. The most enjoyable thing about this job is finally getting everything done on time because if you don't, you get another (not exactly nice) meeting, you need to seriously manage your time, it's the rewarding part.
They work you like a mule, constantly calling over a walkie-talkie every minute. Looked down upon as low man on totem pole. Hounded all day by management. Low pay and the benefits stink. I was tired only after an hour of work. Constantly cleaning up after a horrible night crew.
Clerk/Cashier (Current Employee) – New Jersey – June 24, 2017
I have worked for shop rite for quite awhile now and they are definitely not about helping their employees everything is about what is best for the almighty dollar in their pocket creating new higher up positions with outstanding salaries while the little guys hours are being cut so bad it is hard to get by. Also don't believe about the possibility of full time because that hardly ever happens. Never hear positive from management only the negative. Work moral is horrible. Have to stay for the health insurance especially in this area
Bakery Associate (Former Employee) – Somers Point, NJ – June 5, 2017
Little to no training. High turnover. I walked in every day with a smile and good morning greeting. My supervisor would grunt back at me. Some vet employees were hostile from day 1. No time or willingness to train. They don't want to get to know you or have conversation because you'll be gone soon. Don't take this job you'll regret it. After a few days and no real training, you start hearing that you should know that by now.
Hostile environment, no steady shifts, negative co workers and management
Management and staff are complete backstabbers. Everyone doing something wrong but always ready to point the finger somewhere else. Get constant calls on your day off requesting information regarding the department you work. Work at least 6 days a week. Tried to reach out to corporate office on multiple occasions and got ignored. Is a union store, but they are as crooked as the staff within the store
