What tips or advice would you give to someone interviewing at Virginia Department of Health?
Be prepared to wait an egregious amount of time between the time you submit your application online and a call back. It took 6 months for the phone interview to be arranged. Then it took another 2 months for an in-person interview. These should have been signs to me that this place is highly inept. No wonder Virginians have awful health outcomes...
If you were in charge, what would you do to make Virginia Department of Health a better place to work?
I would fire some of the existing managers and start all over again. In addition, I would offer competence exams to the supervisors. Many of the management knows very little about the work and were hired because they could be controlled. The hiring process needs to be investigated thoroughly.
Slow and when everyone complains they are busy, you know they have never worked in a hospital before! Unfortunately most of the busy is the bureaucracy stuff and forms (yes pen and paper!!!) ....and not direct patient care important things
Impersonal and literally a barrage of maybe 8-10 questions they’re “highly qualified” managers are reading off a piece of paper. It really is a travesty and insult to anyone looking to exhibit their interpersonal skills. DO NOT APPLY HERE.
Dreaded dealing with the immaturity of management. Looked forward to taking care of the patients and working with most coworkers.
How long does it take to get hired from start to finish at Virginia Department of Health? What are the steps along the way?
8 months... and you may be declined even after the long wait. They are rather heartless and unresponsive along the way. This place reeks of favoritism.
