Patient Access Specialist II (Current Employee) - Bothell, WA - June 8, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIf you're looking to apply here just forget it. The doctors are booked out for month. Patients are always angry that there are no appointments with their provider available. If you work in the call center be prepared to get yelled at left and right by not only patients but staff on the other line whos also very short staffed. The call center is so understaffed that they are always hiring people but there's no difference. They cross train you in other specialties without extra pay then expect you to work your original placement on top of other specialties without your permission. Don't worry if you get sick from stress or anything else from working here, they don't care about you or your health even if you have doctors notes to excuse your absences. So if you care about your mental health go elsewhere because you will be burned out by the end of your shift. The turnover rate is so high, it's ridiculous.
Cons
Short staff, Poor work ethic, Over worked, Not enough pay

The employees are not the priority
Ultrasound Technologist (Former Employee) - Seattle, WA - June 8, 2023
All they care about is money and it shows. No limits on scans per day, breaks are not built into schedules, you are expected to stay late almost everyday. The absolute worst place I have ever worked. Everything is to the patients benefit and the techs take the brunt. Terrible management.

Started good, ended in chaos
Pediatrics Medical Assistant (Former Employee) - Lakewood, WA - June 8, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Seeing my patients grow up from newborns to 1 year olds. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The other medical assistants. They brought home life to work life. Created drama. Would be not be team players. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Distant, cold, unhappy, organized. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Get to work, meet with my provider, room patients. Paperwork, phone calls, schedule if needed. Chart prep for next day.

Decent workplace for RN
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Seattle, WA - May 15, 2023
Nursing staff was wonderful, but the amount of staff was short. This seems like a reoccurring problem healthcare in general. The manager was really nice.

I would not recommend this place unless you need health insurance and that doesn’t kick in until months after working there.
N/A (Current Employee) - Seattle, WA - May 13, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Health insurance is the best part of job. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Management, workload, IT, unrealistic workloads What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Abysmal, there is zero culture, employee engagement is nonexistent, and management is oblivious to the problems. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Pure stress and not worth the obscenely low pay.

Complex
HR (Current Employee) - Tacoma, WA - May 9, 2023
The Healthcare atmosphere is complex and VMFH doesn't make it easier. There systems don't talk to each other so doing admin work or trying to find historical information is a nightmare. Executive leadership cares about cutting the budget and not enough about ensuring staff is engaged.

Honestly, work somewhere else
RN Staff Nurse (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - May 7, 2023
Poor management who looks after themselves, not the employees who are doing all of the bedside work. Their “ policies” to protect the employee ( such as No retaliation) are a joke. They don’t properly investigate complaints and only protect the interests of the hospital. How do I know? I worked at St Joseph Hospital in Tacoma for a decade.
Pros
Little higher pay than the competition
Cons
Too many to list. Stay away.

Good place to start as a New Grad
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) - Tacoma, WA - May 3, 2023
I started working here initially as a CNA while I completed my nursings pre-requisites and then when I was finishing nursing school. Now that I am working in the ER as a new grad (post 1 year) I can say that I think it is a good environment to learn as a new grad. There are always opportunities to learn and use your critical thinking skills to better your quality of care as a nurse.

Poorly managed without a corporate vision
Transfusion-Free Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - April 19, 2023
Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is part of the larger Commonspirit Health, a healthcare giant. Departments, hospitals, and regions are very siloed with poor communication. Leaders seem more interesting in affirming their commitment to supporting popular social causes than to building a solid healthcare services.

Unit Host (Former Employee) - Silverdale, WA - April 13, 2023
Managment is lacking a lot of communication and needs to learn to give productive criticism They dont Seem to want to work with employees and teach them as much as they should to benefit the patients

Great Management & Work Environment
Insurance Service Representative (Current Employee) - Tacoma, WA - April 1, 2023
This is hands down the best management team I’ve ever worked for. I haven’t regretted one day joining the billing department at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. I get to work from home and it has been great. Definitely recommend.

Used to be better
Registered Nurse (RN) (Former Employee) - Seattle, WA - March 29, 2023
Now consistently short staffed, nurses and techs forced to accept more patients than is safe, long-time staff are not appreciated or acknowledged and no retention bonuses were ever provided despite them now offering 10k sign-in bonuses to New grads. Management is not supportive, and does not have your back.
Pros
Free parking overnight
Cons
Staffing, no support

Security Management for Security is HORRIBLE!!!
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Federal Way, WA - March 27, 2023
Would NOT work for them again. They are only self aware of what LOOKS good. They do not have your back nor do they give cudos when good things happen. They never follow through on their promises or promotions.
Pros
Trying to think of some
Cons
No training, on your own, no encouragement

It's a hospital, hard work, As a CNA the pt ratios were not the best.
PCT (Patient Care Technician) CNA (Former Employee) - Seattle, WA - March 18, 2023
not a great place to work long term but it is money. Got injured and no outside help was given. Everyone was scared of the day mangers and very clique based while working. Would not go back, make sure you ask for 25 and above as a CNA,

Patient Access Representative (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - March 18, 2023
Lovely place until it wasn’t. Very busy and fun coworkers. Management was okay but overall did not feel supported. Lots of PTO hours per pay period goes towards vacation time

It was an awful experience
Nurse Practitioner (Former Employee) - Seattle, WA - February 22, 2023
I worked at the U Village location and it was by far the most poorly managed toxic work environment I’ve ever witnessed. The degree of autonomy in practice is minuscule with intense micromanagement on nearly every level. The management was very disconnected with the clinical side of the job and there was in general a major disconnect. It was the most difficult and stressful job I’ve ever had. Would not recommend.
Pros
Free lunches during some meetings
Cons
Excessive meetings, poor management, toxic work environment

What is the best part of working at the company? Poorly managed no clear instructions on work flow/duties and high patient volume with poor communication between multiple hospitals hard to reach nurses or get nurses to reply or respond when called by telemetry tech. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Poor communication no true leadership What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Office settings with multiple telemetry techs and stations so you constantly overhear everyone’s alarms and conversations

Corporate
Physician Assistant (Former Employee) - Tacoma, WA - February 9, 2023
Standard corporate atmosphere. Lost its mission years ago. Cares more about numbers now than people, which is a shame. Work satisfaction is department dependent.

respecful work place
ER Technician (Former Employee) - Seattle, WA - February 5, 2023
Great place to work with appropriate support from nonclinical staff. The HR department was quick to respond to job applications and transfer documentation. Culture of the hospital is be respectful to everyone
