VSP has so many opportunities for you to advance. Every manager I've ever had has always supported my career advancements. You get to work with many different lines of business, enabling you to learn a little bit about everything the company offers.

Great environment, friendly co workers, great benefits
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  OhioSeptember 9, 2018
I love working here at VSP. Friendly supervisors all around that are very helpful. The call center can be very stressful during busy times like holidays, beginning of year, and open enrollment. When it’s busy your days seem to scramble together but you do have the help of your teammates if needed. Office is quiet which is nice

One thing that is a bummer is if you’ve been with the company over a year, they may bring on a new hire who makes more than you with less experience. I have not received a raise and it is upsetting knowing people with less experience and no time at Vsp are coming in and making more money than tenured employees.

Great benefits and events that happen within the company.

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Columbus, OHAugust 20, 2018
Vision Service Plan is a great place to work at. There's a lot of training to prepare you for the calls. There's different type of calls. The supervisors do a lot of coaching to help you improve.

Customer Service Rep (Current Employee) –  Sacramento, CAJuly 30, 2018
Its a great place if sitting at a desk and talking on the phone is something you enjoy. They are always giving you free food and having fun events to bring in some excitement to the staff. They do not offer unpaid time off unfortunately.

Allied Universal Security Guard (Current Employee) –  Rancho Cordova, CAJuly 18, 2018
I work for Allied Universal as a Security Guard. not for VSP yet its experience is similar from what I have heard. Management is all over the place. Chain of command changes their mind constantly.

Research Contractor / Marketing (Former Employee) –  Rancho Cordova, CA 95670March 25, 2018
They hired me right out of college. I was given plenty of chances to excel and to learn new skills. The environment there is very welcoming and I would highly recommend the company.

Micro managed and Turnover is high
Call Center Representative/Customer Service (Former Employee) –  Rancho Cordova, CAMarch 7, 2018
Most of the hires for this location are brought in through a temp agency. The training is great but fast. You're like cattle rounded up and shoved along after training you head up stairs if you make it through. Upstairs is live calls with real customers they make it sound exciting, with coffee stations and message chairs. But its Far from that. From you going to the bathroom yes that's timed too by logging in and out of your computer. You're monitored by the # of calls you take and you have a rating/score your required to be at each day and week. Then they screen your calls and rate them. Then they start letting people go you could take up to 100 calls a day 500 a week get monitored on only 5 calls a week but if 3 of those calls out of 500 are not rated above 85% you can say bye bye
Pros
Training is good
Cons
Micro manages, very negative and stressful. Favoritism for family and older tenure staff workers

Great Place to work, but can be stressful.
Claims Processor/Customer Service (Current Employee) –  Columbus,OhioJanuary 11, 2018
Great Place to work, but can be stressful. Expectations from management can be demanding to reach performance goals and strike a balance to make accommodations for clients. Pool table, ping pong and massage chairs are available to de-stress while on lunch or break. Benefits are pretty good and management does encourage career pathing.
Pros
Management shows appreciation consistently and does reward with annual bonuses based on performance.
Cons
Constant call monitoring and feedback can create anxiety and job insecurity.

Client Broker Representative (Former Employee) –  Rancho Cordova, CAOctober 17, 2017
In my daily duties it was needed to create vision plan and explain them to potential clients. The management is so helpful and wants to see their team succeed. Even though the hard parts are trying to make deadlines it still is fulfilling.
