The Visiting Nurse Service of New York is one of the oldest not-for-profit home health care agencies in the country. Our founder, Lillian Wald, was the first public health nurse in the United States. Since 1893, VNSNY has been a vital part of New York’s public health infrastructure.Today, VNSNY focuses on promoting the health and well-being of patients and families by providing expert, cost-effective care in their homes and communities.
The Visiting Nurse Service of New York's mission includes promoting the health and well-being of patients, members, and families with compassion, and our staff talks about how they care for their patients.
The kick-off event for the 2018-19 VNSNY ACE (Achieving a Culture of Excellence) Leadership Program was held on October 17. This a highly selective, 6-month leadership development program is aimed at identifying and developing VNSNY's future leaders.
The 28 participants, who are the program’s ninth cohort, were joined at the event by over 40 senior leaders, ACE alumni and the participants’ supervisors. President and CEO Marki Flannery, SVP and Chief Human Resources Officer Marian Haas, and VP of Talent Management & Organizational Development Andrew Wise each addressed the audience, explaining the program’s role in developing and refining leadership skills, and encouraging the group to take full advantage of the opportunity for growth that ACE presents.
Later in the day, the participants visited the Henry Street Settlement on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
Like VNSNY, the Settlement is celebrating the 125th anniversary of its founding by Lillian Wald. The group viewed Henry Street’s special anniversary historical exhibit and took the opportunity to gather for a special group photo.

The Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) is dedicated to providing high-quality health care in the home and the community. We’ve been a vital part of New Yorkers’ lives since 1893, with a tradition of vision and action that has taken our industry in new and important directions. In 2017, we served more than 135,000 patients in the five boroughs of New York City, Nassau and Westchester Counties. Our patients range from newborns to the oldest of the elderly (100+), and reflect the socio-economic and cultural diversity of the New York metro area. VNSNY CHOICE Health Plans, our managed care affiliate, shares VNSNY's mission of compassion and care for the poor, the chronically ill and elderly helping them to live safely and independently for as long as possible in their own homes and communities. On any given day, VNSNY CHOICE coordinates care for members through its Medicare and Medicaid health plans, including Medicaid Long Term Care, Medicare Advantage, and a HIV/Special Needs Plan.
VNSNY maintains regional office locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, Nassau and Westchester Counties. Our clinical staff provides skilled nursing and rehabilitation therapy services (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology). In addition, Partners in Care is a Licensed Home Health Care Agency and the private care division of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. Services include home health aide service to patients of VNSNY and private care services. It is the largest private care company in New York City.
In addition to traditional home care services, VNSNY provides a Medicaid Managed Long Term Care (MLTC) plan that provides homecare services for elderly New York residents with chronic conditions.
