Fun workplace with lots to do, but the pay is not worth the things that need to be done

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Seeing the difference your making in the lives of the residents , bring residents to day service, make sure they receive their meds on time, do activities with them, go on outings, take them home make dinner, showers, put them to bed after meds

Cons

Low pay, under appreciated, worked like a dog

Bad career choice

Management is impressed with their title but not concerned with managing anything. Effective communication exists but is horribly underutilized. The hardest part of the job is keeping up with all the MASSIVE changes and huge employee deficit. The best thing about working there was the individuals served. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have wasted 3 years of my life.

Pros

Great service they are trying to provide

Cons

Management and horrible staffing levels

Pros

Good pay that’s it

Cons

Everything else

Flexible schedules

What I find most fulfilling about my work is being able to assist clients with their day-to-day responsibilities. Being a supportive and non-judgmental listener can also offer valuable help.

Pros

weekly pay, flexible schedule

Cons

communication with supervisors

Mission Driven Company

Vista Care is a mission-driven company. Their core value is that "People Matter" and that is evident in the quality of care provided and how they treat their employees.

In a Nutshell

Changes protocols incredibly often. Management is nonchalant about matters regarding staff safety, as it is rare to have a co staff in a 2:1 program. Staff has been seriously hurt due to this. Staff is not adequately trained. There is no set lunch period so you don't get all your breaks. Required to stay and do overtime if your relief does not show up. Mandatory 12 hour work shift. Has good pay.

Pros

Good pay, 1 week of paid training

Cons

Short breaks, non-flexible

Relaxed job depending on location

Easy job, management is understanding but could use help with structure and organization. As a casual worker, I’m able to pick hours when I can. 12 hours required a month to stay on as a casual worker.

High Rewarding

We value Vista Care being Synonyms with Best Care throughout the company. Our individuals we serve always come first and I see that throughout the whole company.

Management is running this company into the ground.

What is the best part of working at the company? The coworkers are great and the individuals are inspiring. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Management is very poor. They don't work together and new management is taking the company backwards. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The Values seem great on the outside, but management does not practice what they preach. What is a typical day like for you at the company? The work is great, but management is breathing down your neck and micro-managing every step of the way.

Terrible work conditions and not worth the pay

This company is by far the most unprofessional and dangerous place I have ever worked for. The staff is consistently working one to one in units that require multiple staff. The management doesn't care about your needs or safety and is rarely at the location to assist in behaviors or issues.

People Matter

VistaCare is a great definition of teamwork. We all come together to support the common goal of serving more people better while keeping them in our hearts and actions at all times. No forced extra hours to support a healthy work life balance.

Things could be better

Pay raises could definitely be better. 15-30 cents a year isn't fair compensation. I believe it's one of the many reasons the company has a hard time retaining staff. Management favors certain employees so those employees get offered extra hours. Transferring positions is difficult, communication in general is difficult. Reporting things to management is challenging and you get retaliated against for doing so. Ultimately it's not a place where you'll feel appreciated and the compensation isn't the best.

Pros

Insurance, weekly pay, daily pay

Cons

Compensation and raises

Worst place to work at

Drama filled work environment, fires people with no evidence behind their reasoning. Horrible place to work for. Employees and management suck. Second chances do not exist at this job. They will tear you down for anything they can. Clients are amazing and should be treated better than vista cares employees treat them.

Pros

No pros

Cons

All the cons you can think of

Wouldn't recommend

Management doesn't care about their employees or their clients. Often made decisions that weren't in the best interest of the clients. Very bad communication between staff.

Horrible Management

Management never knew what was going on and often made decisions that went against clients best interest as well as employees. Clients were often treated poorly. Nothing was done when it was reported.

Wishy washy management

It was okay, management is wishy washy and gives the best shifts to there friends/favorite co-workers. The pay was low and the hours are long. If you like surviving off coffee and enjoy everyday excitement with low pay the job is perfect for you.

I like it for the Clients, not the Company

I really like working here. But it's not because of the company, it's the clients. Communication is awful, especially between management and DSPs. Sometimes it feels like I'm in high school with all the drama. There's an obscene amount of paperwork that forces me to spend more time typing up reports than helping my clients. Other employees drop like flies, suddenly not showing up to work. It's hard to stay in the company but it's hard to leave my clients. I do see efforts on the corporate side to improve the work culture but it's a hard uphill battle.

well rounded, enjoyable place to work

I have been working for Vista care almost 2 years. I absolutely love my job. I am given help when I need it, my supervisor has always been good to me. Work life balance is amazing, Family is very important to this company and it shows. I work in a small office, and everyone is wonderful. Complaints are handled professionally. If I ever have a concern, I can talk to my supervisor and have no worry of judgement. They really do care about their employees. They want to see everyone succeed and they truly try to adjust things to see that happen. I do not like the health insurance aspect but other than that I literally have no complaints. The work load that I do is very easy to manage, and even when the load is a bit high, if I ask for help I get it. I look forward to coming to work. I get paid well for the position I am in. I have not been able to say that for any place I have worked. I LIKE going to work everyday. I am appreciated for what I do, and they make a point to show me that. I am told on a daily that I do a good job and that they are happy I am here. That is a pretty awesome feeling.

Pros

great working environment, work/life balance, great pay, encouragement when needed, being appreciated for work done

Cons

health insurance
