Syndications Operations Associate (Former Employee) –  Greensboro, NCJanuary 15, 2019
Great location and great work environment. Very nice balance between working at the office and being able to work at home. Did not experience a lot of micro managing and was a very pleasant experience.

Dysfunctional place to work
Warehouse Operator (Former Employee) –  Byhalia, MSJanuary 12, 2019
This place has become toxic! Upper management doesn’t listen but they're quick to blame others. They’re quick to react when it comes to firing employees. No input from employees and too much input from those who do not work in Byhalia. Men working there keep up a lot of mess.
Pros
N/a
Cons
Blame game; no recognition: low morale; too much input from workers outside of Byhalia

High Pace Environment
EMS Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Greensboro, NCDecember 18, 2018
A typical day of work involved keeping trucks rolling, and reducing their down time as much as possible. I learned a lot about team work, and the importance of full and complete honesty in a work environment.

Slow Boring Job
Assembly Worker (Former Employee) –  Montpelier, OH 43543December 16, 2018
Very slow paced job. Full time employees were very rude and did not treat people fairly. Once you found a job you enjoyed they moved you to something you disliked.

Middletown PA has bad leadership & Swedish Corp uninformed
Employee (Former Employee) –  Middletown, PADecember 7, 2018
Specific to Middletown PA location, badly in need of change at the top.
The Site Dir. is not engaged & doesn't know what's happening, so can't drive effective change. Just not equipped as a leader.
Throws employees under bus to protect his role, so dissenting opinions are not given/heard.

Second tier leadership is equally inept. But they are not supported, nor given a plan or managed to a plan. So many competing initiatives clash and cause dissent.

Unionized shop labor abuses the contract and will eventually drive this location out of busiiiness

If the poor leadership combined with lack of shop labor don't kill what was a flourishing business, the smothering "support" from Sweden will.

Don't hitch your wagon to this short term opportunity.

benefits & pay

Leadership (lack thereof)

Aftermarket Product Manager (Current Employee) –  Greensboro, NCDecember 5, 2018
Volvo is wonderful place to work in all aspects. No major challenges other than the size of the company and the influence of Europe on North American decision making. The benefits are outstanding and for the most part, management is focused on developing talent.

Poor management, didn’t wanna help if you was having trouble, the breaks were horrible, never had time to catch your break,
Ibs/building bricks (Former Employee) –  Dublin, VADecember 2, 2018
Felt like a concentration camp, never had time to do nothing jobs never completed,Never had time to go to the bathroom cause you had no one to let you go so you had to hold it or spend your 10 minute breaks going to the bathroom, you are assigned more than one job that is impossible to finish & between working on the trucks & doing other jobs they give you only five minutes to get all your jobs done but asked for perfection,& sometimes they give you jobs to do that’s not even your job but if you don’t do it it’s on you,& don’t bother asking the union for help cause they will listen but won’t come through cause they don’t wanna deal with you,the money is good but it’s not worth it.

Volvo is like most corporations
Accounts Payable Associate I (Former Employee) –  Greensboro, NCOctober 30, 2018
My first 5 years at Volvo were very rewarding and I liked my job and my team and managers. There was a big change in management and my department went without a manager for almost a year. When new management took over they did not know any of the employees of the department nor specifically their duties. This led to low moral for the ones who had worked there awhile. Volvo also started hiring temporaries which changed the nature of the departments as well.
