I absolutely loved working at Walk2Campus Properties.I felt as though my superiors actually cared about me. I could be open and honest with them. Not only did I get close with my bosses that were in the office, but I felt that I got to know my superiors who worked at the corporate level. The clientele were people that were my age, so I felt that I could relate to them. I definitely learned how to read a person through this job. From the moment they walked through the door, I was able to determine whether I could be more relaxed with the client or if I had to be more professional. The hardest part of the job was that while I did work with a lot of students in college, I also dealt with a lot of adults. Most of the time, they were pleasant to speak and work with. There were some instances where it would be difficult to communicate with them because I felt they didn't take me seriously. The workplace culture was so much fun. It was laid-back, but we also knew that we had a job to do. It was work first and play later.

The typical day at Walk2Campus had a tendency to vary widely depending on what time of year it was and what activities were going on. The spring was always filled with renewal leasing as well as the satisfying, if hectic, rental process for new incoming tenants. Summers were packed with enough stress and fun to keep the entire staff active and engaged. In all honesty, the summer months at W2C are the most effective team building that I personally have ever been through. Fall is awash with new school year activities and new tenants and winter is always fun with exams and the beginning of renewals. Working at W2C was a lesson in compartmentalization. I lived on property, about 50 feet from where I sat Mon-Fri 9-5. This was too close. I had to learn very quickly how to be able to walk by the front desk and not stop during the weekends. It was very frustrating to be pulled away from things I had to get done at home to do things at work, because I wasn't able to say 'no'. This is what I found to be the hardest part of my job; it was not so much the actual execution of my duties, but rather learning when to stop the execution that was the most difficult for me. It is not possible for me to say enough kind things about the staff and management at Walk2Campus Properties. All of the full time staff that I worked with in that company were kind, fun and incredibly dedicated to their work. The people are certainly the best part of this company. There are so many characters both in the office and living in the buildings that there was always something going on to enjoy. College students are a fun crowd and being able to interact with that group so closely was a joy.
