This job will tear you apart. If the physical labor itself doesn't kill you, the chemicals you breath in on a daily basis will, if you're lucky. Or you may wind up die a slow agonizing death due to the cancer caused by working here.

Was a place I actually like to work other than the dangers and the dirt and the Darkness and the ailing equipment and there was plenty to do on the very old equipment that's what made it fun was always something to fix .

Waupaca foundry, Inc. Is a fast paced place to work. There are great people you get to work with. If you aren't looking to get dirty this job isn't for you. Pay is good.

Great Job If You're Single
Inspector & Grinder (Former Employee) –  Tell City, INOctober 23, 2017
Worked here for a year. Was a great job when it comes to pay. You work on an incentive plan and you work hard for it. 12 hour shifts 4 on 2 off. So get ready to hand your life away for a fat wallet.

Very poor place to work, very dangerous and dirty. Typical foundry environment. Health is a risk from breathing in silica dust. Management does not worry about staff health and/or safety.

Great job but not enough money
Set up Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Chattanooga, TNJuly 28, 2017
Overall I love working in the foundry field, it is the field I chose to go into and I wouldn't change that. It is challenging in all the right ways. However, I do not feel like I was making what I was worth. I am a very skilled worker in what I do, and I go to somewhere like Grede and make more, with more chance at advancing my opportunities.
Pros
Great Job
Cons
Not enough money

If you have no family and time at home isn't what you want, it's a great place. If you want time at home and weekends off its not the place for you. However the pay is very nice.

Maintenance Mechanic (Current Employee) –  Tell City, INJune 20, 2017
Check all ranning machines or working in the Oder they should be working. It is a good places to pick on things and learn how they work. The heat is the worst part of the job. It is hot year around. Management is not the best. When you tell someone it is going to break. You might have to wait till it goes before they get on it. The people I work with are great people and well help you learn things you don't know.
Pros
Can move days off if needed
Cons
Not really a planned out places. More day to day as you go.

Employee (Former Employee) –  Etowah, TNMay 30, 2017
Management doesn't seem to remember who does the work that gets them paid. They only worry about how other managers perceive them and will throw any employees to the wolves to insure they get what they want. Terrible place to work if you have a family or hobbies. Great place to work if you want to shorten your life span or have the need/want any illegal drugs.

Operator/Laborer (Current Employee) –  Etowah, TNApril 3, 2017
Waupaca has been a wonderful company to work for. Unfortunately because of the slowing down at work it has been not as dependable for steady work. So looking for a job which not only will help benefit my family but also where I can us my field of study.
Pros
Most co-workers were like family, job was not too hard to complete
Cons
Not enough hours, Heath care has been down graded

Not as bad as some people make it out to be
Millroom Grinder/Inspector (Current Employee) –  Marinette, WIFebruary 14, 2017
The 12 on 2 off shift is the worse thing about the job and you get very dirty but they have showers there for your use. Otherwise the job is pretty easy. You get assigned to a line and your either grinding or inspecting parts that come off the line. You get paid piecework so the more parts your line puts out the more money you make(some lines are better money makers then others obviously) it makes some people become big pricks because they wanna make money. Can be a very dangerous job too just pay attention!!
Pros
Good money, good benefits
Cons
Dirty, 12 on 2 off

Grinder/Machine Operator (Former Employee) –  Marinette, WIJanuary 14, 2017
Working 12 days on 2 days off with very limited vacation time is exhausting and damaging. It ruins family life and is extremely hard to maintain any kind of personal life outside of work.
