What is the interview process like at Waymo?

Waymo Chandler. I was recruited by Genesis 10, a NYC staffing agency. Can't say enough good things about them. The interview with Waymo was held in one of their non-self driving vans. Two people are interviewed at the same time. One drives, the other carries a laualptop. You are supposed to critique the driver's skills quietly on the laptop, and note any/all unusual items that happen on the road, like a bird flying in front of the car. Or a pedestrian walking on the side of the road. Also, questions are being fired at you from the backseat by the Waymo employee who was available at that moment to conduct the interview. The passenger is told the next place to drive to. He then gives turn-by-turn directions to the driver. All the while being distracted by answering questions from the back seat. Upon arrival, you switch seats, and repeat this scenario back to the Depot. This takes nearly an hour, depending on freeway traffic. the Waymo employee also asks questions like, "Why do you want to work for Google", etc. If you're negative, you won't be hired. Praise Google and all is well. The hiring decision is made on the spot, and they notify the staffing agency within the same day. but they won't tell you.

Waymo Chandler, AZ. Once your staffing agency vets you, and you take the test drive/mobile interview, it takes about a week. You will be scheduled for the next available training class, which is 2 weeks long. The next class might be 30-45 days away. So, don't give two weeks notice until you know what day your training class starts. You staffing agency will call you in for a brief meeting to sign paperwork, and get your lanyard ID.
