Fun co workers , terrible management in banquets

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Banquets provides little to no breaks with a stressful poor managed work environment. Staff is all nice but lacks good management which creates a stressful work environment in their banquets department.

Pros

Free food

Cons

Clock in and out for smoke breaks and timed bathroom breaks.

Poor management in a pretty environment.

The compensation was the best part of this job, but management leave a lot to be desired. Poor communication with staff about issues, preferring to write people up over things that could (and should) easily be a conversation. Leaves staff members not knowing what they need to improve , although management sure does -- they keep a daily private log where they vent and complain about each staff member. If you work front of house, you have to buy your own food. Cliques are obvious amongst the staff, younger high-school employees are very hit-or-miss coworkers, although they're all nice kids. Sometimes seems to discriminate against people who are disabled or different from most of the staff, I have heard insensitive comments about people who are not white, straight, or neurotypical.

Pros

Good tips on weekends, nice clientele

Cons

Management can be immature.

Best Job

I personally think working here is great. Some of the best co-workers, managers, and supervisors I’ve ever encountered. Everyone is super helpful and for the most part does their job which I appreciate a lot in a work environment. I do feel like I’m listened to whenever I have an issue and supervisors seem to really care about your well-being. The work is fast paced and fun most days meeting and seeing different people. Overall I recommend working here!

Pros

Good work environment, supportive co-workers, opportunities for advancement

Cons

A lot of small things to learn

Mixed Bag

I honestly don't know how I feel about this place. I think the negative reviews about management are missing the mark. I genuinely like the management here - even some of the less liked managers. I think they genuinely care - but are sadly just overworked. One of the managers that gets a lot of complaints about is genuinely a pretty decent person and cares a lot - just doesn't know how to communicate, they overall care about their staff. My only issue is pay - as a bartender it's like shooting fish in a barrel, you don't know if you'll have stable income or will be hard pressed for cash. It feels like a cheap establishment that doesn't value employees at times. However management does care and if you voice concerns will listen to you. Owner seems pretty cool too, genuinely nice guy.I don't know if I'd recommend this place, but if you're new to the service industry or interested in bartending, I'm sure you could learn a lot! Corworkers are cool and as stated before management is alright and genuinely pretty down to earth. Just wish the pay was a bit better.

Pros

Good for new bartenders. Could be a good jumping board for people interested in fine-dining.

Cons

Bonkers hours - doubles suck. Somewhat uncertain rate of pay.

Great Place to Work

I've been at Weber's for a number of years now. It is a busy place but you are rewarded for performance. The owners are involved and a lot of the mangers have been there for a long time. Overall I'd say I am treated with respect and enjoy my job.

Flexible Scheduling, good money

I have been in the Restaurant Industry for over 10 years, by far one of the best serving jobs ive had. Money is good, typically walk out with more than expected. Shifts are always available if i want to work more which is never a bad thing. Co-workers are awesome, everyone does there part. Good family owned, owners are involved which is nice too see, a lot of family owned business's cant say that. My managers are helpful. Overall good place to work if your looking to make money.

Pros

Flexible hours, great money

Cons

Holidays, long shifts

Absolutely Terrible, Save Yourself PLEASE!!!!

If you aren't trying to test your patience I see no reason to why you'd this job. It will beat you down until there is nothing left. Though the pay is quite good, but the pain and stress isn't worth it. The Owner is a bumbling idiot who despite having his name on the building and basically growing up there he still doesn't know where everything goes and how to do some of the simple things often needing you to correct it or going to get a manager. It can become exceedingly awkward when he is at a lost and you don't know either and no manager is around to show him what to do. Within a month you'll know the building better than him. Well if you haven't quit by then All the managers/supervisors are idiots. It's literally like dealing with children in adult bodies. They don't believe in privacy, they handle everything in a childish and immature manner. Schedules are routinely given out on Saturday sometimes Sunday. Despite guest having to reserve rooms/events well in advance. God forbid if you have an open work schedule it will fluctuate drastically on a weekly basis. Constantly understaffed and overworked or overstaffed and underworked. They could never get it right. Most of the times you are understaffed and overworked and this is due to nearly everyone either calling off coming in late or quitting constantly. They have such a problem with people showing up that after about two weeks of being hired you can consistently show up 15-20 minutes late as if thats on time and no one bats an eye lash. People quit so much I stop learning their names. They make you work holidays -

Pros

Will hire anyone, Rehire old employees, Great Pay

Cons

Will hire anyone, Rehire old employees, Staff/Management

All around fun place,,

Being real, the job as a banquet server/bartender can be stressful at times, but you learn from it, you learn how to control yourself under pressure as well as something to learn everyday, weather its about work or the parties we have at webers, never a dull moment there. I have learned how to be a waiter/ server as well as learning the catering business. This is not for everyone, but if you have what it takes, your with a good group of people.

Does not value employees

I want to start by saying I have 20 years waitress experience and I’ve served in restaurants all over the country. The only thing good about working here is that there is a lot of money to be made. That is if you are willing to deal with a lot of inadequacies. You would think a locally family owned company would value their employees and their hard work but they do not. The kitchen is disgusting, outdated, and the entire area is very hard to work in because it is so small. There were 2 complete turnovers in staff in 6 months because they fire people for absolutely no reason, which creates a lot of complaints because everyone is always new. You are always being scheduled out of your availability. They work you for literally 13 hours straight with no breaks or food. The management is immature and inexperienced when handling customers and employees. They gossip about everyone and thus creating a toxic environment.

Fast paced environment with fun staff

Weber's is a great place to work if you are just starting out in the business or have been working it for 10+ years. It is a family type dynamic were you work with the owners and so many people each day that it makes it enjoyable to come in. Yes, it can be stressful with having extra side-work and working holidays but if even on the busy holidays you are able to walk with enough money to make it worth it. They give us a buffet style meal each shift and make sure that they are helping us with whatever is needed throughout the shift. Management can be a little overbearing sometimes when it comes to the staff but they are there when we are weeded to help us out. You are given feedback(positive and negative) on a daily basis so you know if you are doing badly and what you need to do to improve. Overall if you are a hard-worker and don't mind actually working this is a great place to work. That is the main reason I have stuck around this server job for 3 years.

Horrible

Worst place I have ever wasted my time working. Thought it would be fine dining, due to the way it “appears” but boy was I wrong. Managers are young, immature and inexperienced when it comes to dealing with people, and that’s a problem. Female manager openly talks about other employees, and plays games/does very mean things to servers in condescending ways. Owners son is nuts, and beyond awkward. Doesn’t know how to speak to people either.

Great place to work

The co-workers here are amazing, and have all become friends. You can make great money working part-time or full time. Scheduling is flexible, and management is willing to work with you on this. Management can be helpful. Working holidays isn't ideal, but they are busy so you can make good money. Discount on food and hotel room for employees.

Great Money

Weber's is a great restaurant to work if you are looking to make good money. Its very busy and the clientele is pretty good. There are lots of regulars. There are often business travelers who come in from the hotel that helps out also Good family to work for. The owners are still involved in the daily operations. Management is good too. Co-workers are amazing. There isn't too many young servers; most of the servers are career servers, mature and here to work.

Pros

family meal, earnings, co-workers

Coworkers are amazing management not so much

The coworkers here are amazing and that’s a big reason most people stick it out. The managers talk about staff behind their backs and are childish and disrespectful. You consistently get scheduled outside of your availability and get asked to do them a ‘favor’ I.e. picking up shifts; and get promised food, decent out time, etc but they never honor their promises. Tip out is extremely high for any restaurant. Sidework is triple what you are used to at a regular serving job. Two managers in particular are unhelpful and if you ask them for something they delegate the task to someone else and go sit on their phones. The webers family is not the problem it’s the managers they choose to represent them. Servers are expected to give up holidays with family but not given any incentive such as raised menu prices, added gratuity to parties. One manager comps almost everything and half the time it’s unwarranted and screws the server over and the guest doesn’t even care which messes up servers tips. You are not taken seriously here and if you voice your opinion you get scolded. Health and dental plans are a joke, they are extremely unreasonably priced. Business has slowed down tremendously from years ago when I started, overstaffing is a big problem on a night with 50 covers there are 10-12 servers on and no one makes any money.

Pros

Coworkers

Cons

Healthcare, tip out, pay, business decline, sidework, management.
