Fun workplace
Managers did work with your schedule. They trained workers very well but had to push to learn what the "higher associates" such as order and paperwork. I had the experience to work in different departments to see if I fit.

While I had my issues with management, I'll take the high road here. It is a good company to work for, they offee good benefits and do nice things for their employees.

Overall I enjoyed working here. Over a long period of time however it got monotonous. If not the right management supports your development in the company in a different departmennt it’s a lost cause.

Wegmans prides itself as a caring, family owned company and maybe the stores up north are like that but the Raleigh location is embarrassingly far from that. We were continually short staffed and management refused to hire new people so you’d have full timers working 10 days straight while part timers were working 40-48 hrs a week because there was no one else to schedule and despite the lack of people working management always expected you to hit your numbers for the day, you were critiqued for the littlest things, and the favoritism in the store was blatant. It’s impossible to get full time with so many of the hardest working employees getting passed over because management liked someone better, they’ll continually have you working in other departments which at first seems exciting but you quickly realize it’s cause every department is short staffed and then you realize you’re doing extra work that 1) you aren’t getting paid for and 2) is not in your job description. Also their decision making during the COVID outbreak was lackluster. Had a multitude of customers entering stores with no masks and instead of escorting them out they would simply check them out at the customer service desk to get them out the store quicker. I would constantly get customers complaining to me about the lack of mask wearing and I simply had to tell them I couldn’t do anything cause I couldn’t, we were simply told to ignore any customers that weren’t wearing masks. They eventually started handing out masks to customers but that was so far into the pandemic that it seemed like an absolute waste at that point. It definitely isn’t the worst place to work with the company honestly being incredibly inclusive, we always got coupons, always got food drinks and cooked meals from our chefs in the break rooms and the people you work with are great but other than that it’s honestly a subpar company. It’s a good place to work if you want some extra money but don’t try and make your way up the ladder. It’s not worth it.

They asked me questions I felt were more bizarre for an interview. Asked me in an unsafe scenario, what would I do? I asked for what type of unsafe situation because that would determine my response (a wet floor sign vs a fist fight has two different outcomes)... they didn’t like that I asked nor helped clarify the question. They asked other questions about knife skills, last product I learned about (could be anything at all) and to explain it to them, last opinion of mine that I tried to convince someone of.. etc. if you aren’t prepared to recall any of this then good luck answering, and good luck trying to make something up because they’ll ask follow up questions about your response.
