Great Culture and Growth Opportunites

Featured review

West Shore Home selected this as a representative review
I joined WSH just over 3 months ago - I was referred by an existing employee. Admittedly I thought he was "over sold", but I quickly learned during the interview process - and then in the onboarding and training processes - that all the great things he had shared with be about WSH were true. Great Culture, Great Pay, Great Benefits, Great Opportunities for Career Growth! To be clear - you will work hard, you will be challenged to grow personally and professionally, and you will have to learn A TON, especially if you come from outside of the Home Improvement industry. But the support and resources are fantastic. Most importantly to me, the culture - for me - is a perfect fit! Everyone I have met has been a fantastic to work with! I am looking forward to a long career here at WSH!!

Pros

Great Culture, Great Pay, Great Benefits, Great Opportunities for Career Growth

Cons

Long hours can be challenging for some.

Thank you for your note! We are glad your West Shore Home journey has been rewarding on many levels. Keep up the great work!

Everyday's different. Some harder. Some easier. Just do what's right, communicate effectively if you run into any snags & you'll be fine.

Very important to be willing to learn new or different methods in this job. You'll work with different people, some of whom are great at what they do and some who require some more training. If you're a self starter and can learn from watching/doing, then you'll definitely be ok. If you need someone to actively reach you then you might be in trouble. Most days are longer than the average and overtime is all but inevitable. Show up early and have a great attitude, own your work, do what's right and you're gonna do great things with this company. Room for promotions and pay raises are ample but you have to stay away from negativity, which can be transcendent in the construction industry. All tools and materials are provided as well as a company vehicle and fuel card. Great place to learn construction or continue a construction career.

Pros

Work tools, truck and materials provided, Paid Lunch, Nice 401(k) plan, Excellent Healthcare Plans, Requests off are usually granted

Cons

Average day as an installer is approximately 9-12 hours, most jobs MUST be completed same day as per the work agreement, if you're not good at learning by watching or by doing, there's not much formal in-field training by leadership.

Great place to work, whole building is filled with uplifting & motivating coworkers

A typical day at works consists of morning huddles, all day uplifting in the team chat, & working hard to watch our conversion/controllables as a team & as individuals. I believe I've learned a lot, especially about working a group & not on my own. This company is so inclusive & constantly keeping us up to date on changes. Management is great, they stay in contact with the team, make sure every ones feeling confident at the same time as making sure we see where we're lacking. The culture is great, everyone gets a long so well & has similar sense of humors which makes for a fun day, even on the slower days. The hardest part of the job is dealing with dead air, NIS & OOA calls, they can be soul crushing when you're ready for an appt set. The most enjoyable part is when I help customers I know need the projects done & I feel like I genuinely helped them out, especially when they tell me how appreciative they are, makes me feel good & I get tog o home knowing I did a good job, even when I've had a slower day.

Pros

Loads of training/studying materials, everyone works as a group even with the friendly competition, & it's fun work environment.

Cons

I wish there were disposition options for customer illnesses or being in the hospital, at that point its not procrastination, they're looking out for the well being of others or they are unable to be present.

Disgusting employer. Completely amoral

Cult-adjacent workplace culture. Brutally overworked, severely underpaid. Entirely incompetent senior leadership. The product being installed in people’s homes is not up to par despite the advertising and sales literature. The days are long and leave you feeling awful for what you’ve just done to a person’s home. A 10,000 dollar (almost at the minimum) shouldn’t be made out of plastic, glue, and plywood.

Too intense

Company thinks they are way above the competition, takes over 3 months to get paid on a job, constant training, no work life balance, was told most of your leads are in your general area but you are driving zig zags across the state, no reimbursement for gas or personal vehicle maintenance. A lot of the leads are not qualified and have higher than normal sales goals and expectations that must be met and if not you go on a PIP then can lose your job if you don’t hit your requirements. Overall an extremely stressful place to work. If you are an ace in sales that rarely ever misses and don’t have a family then it can be good. It’s a 6 day work week with an average of 12+ hour days.

Pros

Not stuck in an office setting.

Cons

No work life balance

Good potential and training

There’s good potential to make money. They offer extensive training to continue to grow and meet quotas. They have a strong reputation in the area, but can also be known for their strong marketing and sales techniques which can be a hurdle to overcome for customer perception. If you’re a good performer, the only downfall is the churn rate and management which is normal for the industry.

Beautiful experience

Good trade to learn, good pay, management give and take. Good benefits- all holidays off - easy but trying - 50-65 hours a week - company got their own trucks, material and tools.

Great pay but trash management

I’m not going to say I was the best sales person but I met my goals most months. They will message you at 11:30 at night and expect you to reply immediately. I got paid great while I was here but the management is constantly changing and each manager has different rules. I had one bad month in the slow season and you have 3 weeks to get your numbers up or they let you go. We run company provided leads and I couldn’t help most of my leads couldn’t get qualified to finance a stick of bubble gum. My close rate when I was let go was 60% but my net sales per lead issued was $800 at the the time minimum nsli was $2300. So they let me go.

Selfish, greed and lack of compassion or loyalty

WSH could be so much more. They have all the potential in the world but until senior management starts an overhaul from the top down this place will only get worse as it grows. WSH ONLY cares about your sales numbers and could care less about you on any personal level. You are just a number to them. All management from Team leads, Sales Managers General Managers and beyond are all greed motivated. I have never seen anything like it. They make no secret about it - If they like you and you produce you get good leads and plenty of them. if you don’t produce (from the bad leads they gave you in the first place) then you are in a slow downward spiral to the bottomless pit where you will be placed on a performance improvement plan. All they do is talk about numbers, by the hour almost. When you don’t sell you are made to feel like a worthless creature. That goes for EVERY appointment. Management is so arrogant they believe you should sell every lead given to you. When you don’t sell the appointment you must start the result by stating how you FAILED to sell the appointment. This is a proven psychological negative reinforcement to beat you down. As long as you enjoy being subservient and dependent on the management as they are the savior (this helps feed their large egos) you’ll be one of the good ones and you’ll survive- even succeed at WSH. If you think for your self, do the right thing, or have a mind of your own and dont drink every last drop of lemonade then you’ll be terminated soon enough. On the bright side, if you don’t mind being brainwashed you’ll make a TON of money. -

Very routine and repetitive, but never easier.

Everyday you work to completion of the assignment no matter the hours. If you don’t get it done within the day it goes against you, but it’s residential remodeling so everyday the is a similar but new challenge with unforeseen problems at hand. It’s physically demanding and management just seems to forget how much they’re constantly asking from the installers. No telling how long the company will last cause of their immoral actions within their process of remodeling EVERYDAY in real family’s homes.

Pros

Money

Cons

The job

Great place for like minded sales professionals

Like any great sales position, you will drive a lot, but not every single day. Encouraging to see how happy people are when you can solve their issues/concerns. Great camaraderie and support from coworkers and management

Pros

Culture, pay & sales team communication

Cons

Lot of SOPs to learn right from the jump can be frustrating

actually really loving it

I am loving this job so far. The communication/expecations are clear and well laid out. You get lots of feedback on your work, including positive feedback which is not common in a lot of companies. Management has been wonderful to work with and the job has been busy but not so busy that I feel like I can't breathe. Hard work and lots to do, but very rewarding so far.

Pros

No life, company could care less about you

Although you can make good money, you will work 6 days 12 plus hours a day. You will be treated like a dog by upper management. They will degrade you in front of others and lie to your face. The turnover rate is ridiculous.

Pros

Money

Cons

Everything else.

Strong company with communication issues.

I feel that my position is important to the company and respected by my co-workers. Limited opportunities for advancement outside of Corporate. WSH does a great job of promoting from within.

Pros

good benefits and pay

Cons
