current employee who has seen the changes in a positive light. Current manager is hands on and willing to promote team atmosphere within the hospital. Fast paced environment where you are able to learn a lot about patients case management and working with different systems under the direction of the current director.

I just started this position and I do love the company. Relatively new facility so there are some growing pains. If you are willing to be patient and stick with this company it will pay off. You make a difference in peoples lives and most staff are very supportive and easy to work with. I highly recommend this job if you have behavioral (ABA or mental health) experience. We will train of you do not but please realize this is a challenging environment and you must have the heart, patience, and stomach for this work. It is worth it though.

No opportunity for career advancement.

Supervision IS NOT PROVIDED. Those that need supervisory hours for licensure advancement WILL NOT receive them at this facility.


Strict deadlines, overtime required by strongly advised against. You will get pushback when requesting to work overtime, and hostile responses such as "what have you been doing all day" when requesting extra time to catch up on work after a particularly busy day, or after needing to take time off sick.


Unclear expectations of weekend work hours.



Seemingly incompetent and otherwise unavailable department heads, ie difficult to get help when needed during crises.


Subject to unprofessional dialogue, intimidating postures and tones from supervisors, and disrepscrful treatment of staff by department heads.


All around hostile work environment.

Recieving a paycheck here is better than going without money for rent and food.

Beautiful and physically safe environment. Very short staffed and much turnover, especially in upper management. No mid- management except Nursing Supervisors. Difficult clients. There is an overwhelming need for Healthcare Establishments and providers for Psych patients of ALL ages, but children and adolescents in particular. This place has all the bones in
place to make for. a remarkable institution. It is extremely difficult and stressful at times,regarding the lack of adequate staffing. DMH WANTS this place to succeed, as do I.

A wasted building. Poor patient care, horrible administration, and no regard for employees. Currently we don’t even have HR. Unsafe work conditions, unfair wages, and the most extreme gaslighting 6 CEOs and 5 CNOs in less than two years. Countless DMH infractions. No job security.

The good qualities of Westborough is friendly polite staff we just can’t keep enough of them to get a good solid staff team on each unit but the people who do work there are so polite and kind even when it’s chaos on the unit

This place is on their 5th CEO in two years. Admin is incompetent. Conditions are understaffed and unsafe. The hospital does not even have security?!?! The first CEO was investigated for Medicare fraud. Don't be fooled this place is a corrosive profit-driven business that claims to provide treatment. The good clinicians are amazing but are not given what they need to properly do their job. As a result, sometimes groups are not even run, and yet they are still billed for. Not to mention incidents of serious misconduct / boundary violations with patients are/were not reported to parents.

Lots of people that don't know wth they are doing. Too many friends of friends that are learning as they go along. There is room for growth but are you licensed or educated for it. Probably not but because you are a friend of or someone likes you. Management-we are down to bare bones as all the managers for the floors have been fired. Not enough staff:patients on the floor. There are usually 2 of us and then there will be a 1:1. Which leaves one MHT on the floor. What makes more sense is 3 MHTs. Nurses are lazy and don't know what they are doing. Its getting better but not fast enough.

Turnover rate is super high. Staff is given multiple roles and paid for one. Unrealistic job expectations, burnout, unsupportive management, and they care only about the bottom line not the patients.

The people I work with are great. The immediate supervisors and unit managers are also great. The problem is upper management. Staffing is a critical issue. Units are barely staffed. If i have to hear ‘we are staffed to the grid‘ one more time....

Management used pizza parties to cover up the fact that staff were overworked and burnt out. Patients could see the disarray between staff. Terrible schedules for clients, some incredibly lazy staff, but amazing techs...need I say more? This place should have been shut down months ago.

This hospital provides little to no training for the direct care or counseling staff that works on the units. The management only cares about their billing numbers and they do not want to keep patients the real about of time that the patients really need in a lot of cases. There TO many involuntary medical restraints at this hospital. So many that patients have been pulled out of the hospital due to the amount that they were involuntary restrained. The hospital does not even have a clinical director even though this is a psychiatric hospital. They do NOT provide licensure supervision like they say they will. Working here can have a negative impact on a clinician licensure and their license.

Terrible pay and dangerous situations. Some staff are incompetent resulting in patient and other staff placed in harms way. You are under paid and not appreciated.

The hospital is poorly managed, however the staff is excellent. The priorities of upper management are completely wrong, they focus on fixing unnecessary problems while glossing over fundamental issues. In my time there, they never figured out how to schedule people, which often resulted in severe understaffing, or overstaffing where they would send people home. Not only is management incompetent, but the safety standards are awful. Myself and others were afraid for our lives on a weekly basis. On top of all the aforementioned problems, I and many other employees noticed our paychecks were much smaller than they should have been. These problems were always due to "technical issues" but somehow always resulted in staff being underpaid than overpaid... The staff however is amazing, hardworking, and very caring. I stayed as long as I did because I loved my coworkers. I will say that the scheduling was very flexible, and overtime was always achievable (mostly due to how understaffed they always were due to people quitting/not showing up).
